Wonder who it will be...would froch be motivated in fighting Hopkins? I'd prefer that to Chavez jnr

There's only one option. Floyd Mayweather Jr.

He would kick Bernard's ancient ass.

Then all these stupid threads would be settled forever.

B hop couldn't get to 154 and floyd wouldn't go higher. I don't even think he would go to 154 again

I had a feeling he might do that. He said he felt like a middle against Kovalev but I just think age finally caught up to him. Dudes a freak though. He was in the gym a day after the fight.

Carl has said he'd love to have a fight in Vegas before he hangs them up. Trouble is outside of the payday, beating this version of Hop does not do much for him. Means about as much as Joe beating Roy. All of the British fans saw what happened Saturday. Kovalev pitched a shut out. Its clear as day that Hop needs to quit. The last time anything even close to that happened to him was over 20 years ago against Jones. Carl might take some flack for beating up Hopkins at this point.

After seeing how impotent Bernard was, I bet Floyd would fight him at 170!

Besides, who cares about Bernard now he's shown that he has nothing left. Who would pay to see him fight anyone after that piss poor outing? The only appeal would to see if he can beat a much smaller but faaaaar more talented Mayweather.

The myth of his invincible veneer is gone. Putting him in against Froch or Ward would prove nothing for those guys. If anything they come looking like thugs who beat up an old man.

I'm surprised no one else thought about Andre Ward upon reading this. That's the only realistic option I see.

First thing I thought was Ward. Or...who else has a trinket recently gained at middle ...someone he may have history with Hmm

I'd honestly shoot my tv if that was made

I'm thinking Golovkin Floyd wouldn't fight Hopkins until he was about 65 and then I'd still doubt Mayweather would risk it

    I wouldn't mind seeing Hopkins-Froch

Damn lol, that's not a bad shout either man. A Hopkins Taylor rubber match at 168 I'm with you on shooting the TV, but that's a very very winnable fight for Hopkins and has the illusion of being significant, to some people.... maybe... Might make sense.

Ward or Froch wouldn't gain any respect for fighting Hopkins, but I'm sure either would still take it if the payday was right, that is if Ward wants to fight anyone anymore... I can't see Hopkins fancying either of those though, he probably had/has a really good style to fight Froch in theory but I highly doubt he'd be able to throw enough and keep pace anymore.

Anthony Direll or Chavez Jr, are about the only other names I can think of as being somewhat relevant and winnable for the Nard. I'd like to see Jr get the fight if only to see HOpkins go out on a high, and to read the shit thrown at Jr before and after on here

i doubt it would be ward because bhop has said in the past that they are friends and will never fight each other. it could be chavez to get one last big money fight that is very winnable. i dont see bhop taking another fight that isnt a pretty sure win.

Yeah I remember both Ward and Hopkins saying they wouldn't fight, but if they money was right they'd consider it

I see Hopkins challenging himself again

At his age, is it realistic to move down 2 weight divisions ? no. so that means SMW. the champions are:
Ward -unlikely for many reasons, Friends , not marketable, Ward's contractual issues, etc.
Dirrell - Maybe, but is it a big enough fight for people to be interested in?
Froch - Bingo! Froch wants a last fight in Vegas - Tick! More kudos than the Chavez fight, even after the weekend - Tick! Froch will believe he can win - Tick! Froch will be fighting a legend and his "Legacy" benefits if he wins. Tick!
from the other side: enough money to make it Worth Hopkins' time. Tick! Froch's Style made for Hopkins. Tick! Hopkins will believe he can win. Tick! Hopkins will become a household name in the UK to even non-boxing fans. Tick!
This is a very makeable fight. the only drawback is will Froch have the balls to risk his cherished "legacy" against a 50 year old that Calzaghe beat 7 or 8 years ago? and when I say "have the balls", I mean mentally , his courage and punch resistance is without question .
This is a better and more meaningful fight than Chavez and if Froch is to fight again, this is the one, but what I would say to Froch is "Be careful what you wish for!"
IMO , HOPKINS WINS ON POINTS! in a similar way to how Ward beat Froch.
