IMO, that's how Pac's performance against Floyd stacks up. It wasn't the total, embarrassing whitewash Canelo suffered at the hands of Floyd.... but it certainly was less competitive and not nearly as exciting as Floyd-Cotto or Floyd-Maidana. I'm not gonna mention Castillo, 'cause that was a looong time ago and it was a different Floyd.
I love Pac and think he's a great human being. People who hate on him for his alleged PED use and his personal failings can keep right on hating. I prefer to see the good he does for other people and the love he has for the people of his country. If Floyd had half that moral character, he'd be a great human being too. I also admire what Pac has accomplished inside the ring, and will always thank him for several key fights which I enjoyed extremely (DLH, Hatton, Margarito).
But reality is there for all to see. As others have said, it was on Pac to take the fight to Floyd. That is his style. Floyd's style has always been to defend and counterpunch. Why should Floyd, in the biggest fight of his career, change his style just to appease those who wanted a slugfest with Pac? It was Pac who needed to push and force that on Floyd. He tried, to his credit. But a combination of age, and Floyd's tremendous ability did not allow Pac to do that. So it turned out the fight that many of us thought... and predicted.... it would be.
Rematch? No need. If anyone deserves a rematch, it's Cotto.
Not Pac.... definitely not Canelo.... and Maidana already got his.
