That also means it's been 8 years since Diego died...

Leaves a bad taste in my mouth that Diego cheated by spitting his gum shield out to buy some time.

Yea wow, that's kinda depressing it's been that long. I also agree Castillo should have won that fight. You have 10 seconds to recover from a knockdown, Corrales got(and badly needed) way more than that in back to back instances! Has anyone ever seen a similar ending to a fight? The fact that Chico was still able to land that right and turn the fight on its head was amazing viewing, but it was a screw job imo. Still would have been an ATG fight without that ending, there was incredible ebb and flow the whole way through.

Think it's still the best fight I've ever seen. Real warriors. I remember just before Diego died there were rumours he was going to fight Gatti. That would have been a war.

Best fight I've ever seen in my lifetime. The mouthpiece thing was smart IMO. The ref made the right call by deducting a point and there wasn't anymore he could do. It would have been much worse had the ref disqualified him

I don't think Weeks should have DQ'ed him, but he could have let the action resume without giving Chico so much extra time in his corner. Considering he did it blatantly twice in a row, I think giving him at least an extra 10-15 seconds on his feet to recoup was very unfair. Just my opinion though, there is no right call in a situation like that I guess.

i think that in the moment its hard to gauge exactly how you are going to handle it. all fights are different so you handle situations differently in every fight. i think he handled it about as well as he could have. i see no blatant corruption or even much of a fault. and lets be honest, how many people would have guessed a few extra seconds would result in what happened?

Great great fight watched it again a few months back, probably the best round 10th when a fighter looks completely fucked and some how manages to come back and get his own ko. Also love joe in the corner can't remember what he exactly said again but it was somthing like you fucking better get him on the inside now lol

Unless you believe he should be disqualified, I will have to say that it was a brilliant idea. He got penalized by a point. He didn't care because he's not gonna win by points anyway. He wasn't looking for an easy way out. It's maximizing the rules to the stretch. Same with taking an intentional knee as many as you want to recover. You lose a point but you don't care. Will only be a shameful act if a fighter does something to get the fight stopped, saying he's unable to continue because of a cut or low blow, but the intent is to run away with a win, because they are ahead and the opponent is rallying strong.
