Default zab a no show, but king vows upset...

    www.fightnews.com

    Tuesday, March 28 2006

IBF Welterweight champion Zab "Super" Judah, 34-3 (25 KOs), did little to change perception of his attitude today as he failed to show for a conference to hype his April 8 "Sworn Enemies" showdown against pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas and televised live on HBO Pay-Per-View. Advertised as featuring the three-time champion giving his analysis of his stunning title-losing defeat at the hands of Carlos Baldomir last January, as well as his plans for pulling an upset over "Pretty Boy" Mayweather, what the media got instead was Judah뭩 father/trainer Yoel and promoter Don King doing their best to sell the idea that an upset is in the making and that Judah뭩 intense focus is what prevented him from helping out in the event promotion. "We뭭e got our hands full with Floyd Mayweather. He뭩 considered the best pound for pound, but we뭨e going to rise to the occasion and knock him out," vowed King. The elder Judah agreed "We ready. We up. We able. We뭨e going in there with full confidence. Mayweather뭩 got a big mouth and we will shut it. Zab gets up for the big fights and he뭩 up for Mayweather because he뭩 got a big mouth. This is the fight where we show what we do best and Floyd, you can뭪 stop it." King also made a bold prediction given the smooth boxing styles of both competitors. "You뭭e got a real fight coming that night and it뭠l be another victory for me over Bob Arum. This will win fight of the year honors. I will be very surprised if it doesn뭪. Zab is even more focused than he was against (Corey) Spinks. Floyd Mayweather is going to be surprised when he is literally destroyed."

zab might well be focussed, and it might very well be a competitive fight for a time...we wont see the zab that showed up against baldomir....

but im still maintaining that pretty boy keeps his unbeaten record intact...

For some reason I don't think Zab is taking this fight too seriously. He has been hanging out in South Florida all month, and this is not a good sign. He was at the Miranda/Eastman fight late Friday night also. This is do or die for him. If he can beat Floyd he's back on top of the world and we will all look past the Baldomir embarrassment. He should be hidden away somewhere in a camp with no distrations. At this point I'm ready to bet the house on Zab getting KO'd early. He just doesn't seem to care.

Isn't it ok for him to go watch the fights after a day of training

I wouldn't read to much into Zab no-showing. He is making a point to Don King that he isn't going to ran around like he claims he was in the days leading into the Baldomir fight.

And is that Jason Taylor with him in the pic?

I don't think he should be in Ft Lauderdale with all the distractions of family and friends. That's why most boxers go to a camp, to leave the distractions behind a live and breathe only boxing for 8 weeks.

And yes that is Jason Taylor in the pic.

The reason Zab Judah "gets up for big fights" as Yoel put it is so that he can be knocked back down...

Even if he did train hard for this fight, I just don't think he could beat Floyd. He's always open to the straight right hand when he's standing still or backing up and PBF's straight right is lightning fast. I don't see this fight being close unless Zab ditches the crossblock.

I think zab will lose....pretty badly too. I was also wondering, will judahs last fight be called "Save the Last Dance" ?

It's called sworn enemies. I know you like Tszyu but why do you hate Zab so much?
