    Default Bloody Germans

Dropping unexploded bombs in Birmingham and forcing me to sit in the pub all night, god damn mother fuckers, I'm pissed now and it's all their fault.

Found a bomb in aston they did and all the routes out of town have been blocked off, I finished work at 4pm and thought I'd hide out in the pub and wait for it to die down...5 hours later and I have just had to fight my way onto the bus, I have heard that my home may have actually been evacuated, I don't think so bitni don't know, itd be funny of it was.

God bless Ze Germans and their faulty bombs, I ain't got a clue what fucking route the bus'll take to get me home or where it'll drop me off.

Ha I'm pissed and I blame Ze Germans

Amazing after all these years and they still find their bombs. I was safe workijng from home.

Rush hour chaos after Second World War bomb found; A38 Aston Expressway CLOSED in both directions

A large unexploded World War Two bomb has shut one of Birmingham's major roads and forced the evacuation of "hundreds of homes" and businesses.

The closure of the A38 (M) Aston Expressway is causing long delays for drivers. It is likely to remain closed until Tuesday, police said.

Rail services on the Cross City Line between Lichfield and Birmingham have all been cancelled.
The 500lb (227kg) device was found at a building site in Priory Road, Aston.

A 500m cordon was set up after its discovery at about 09:45 BST. Police have warned it may have to be widened as investigations continue.

Bomb disposal teams have been in attendance at the scene throughout most of the day.
The device has been identified as a German-made shell, a police spokesman added.

The Aston Expressway links the city centre with the M6 and other major routes in north Birmingham.
All exit and entry slip roads of the M6 at junction six are closed.

Cdr Chris Johnson of West Midlands Police said: "An initial assessment from Army bomb disposal suggests this is a large explosive device − that's why an extensive cordon has been put in place.
"There is the possibility we may have to extend the cordon on advice from expert. We don't take decisions like this lightly but public safety has to be our number one priority.

"Hundreds of homes have been evacuated and we are working with our partners to provide emergency accommodation."

Mr Johnson said there had been some difficulties in accessing the device because of the terrain and the bomb's position at the construction site.

Those people removed from their homes are being offered sanctuary at the Aston-Newton Community Seventh Day Adventist Church in Lichfield Road.

London Midland said its rail services between Birmingham New Street and Lichfield Trent Valley would be cancelled for the rest of Monday.

It has advised passengers to use alternative transport as its rail tickets are being accepted on local National Express West Midlands bus routes.

National Rail said earlier the disruption was set to last all day.

Not long got home, what a ball ache that was, after an hour on the bus I had to ask the driver of I could get off for a piss, his reply was 'you can get off but if the traffic moves I move I told him I didn't have any choice, I got off and squeezed like a mother fucker to get it out, I finished and jumped back on the bus to a small cheer from the people on There, within 10 minutes another 3 people had got off to do the same, I was pretty proud of that

Slightly off topic but watched Anthony Bourdain last night spotlighting the unexploded munitions scattered around Vietnam and Laos. Mainly cluster bombs with thousands of sub bombies released and majority of removal is done by hand one at a time. They have entire programs put out to teach children, farmers etc about the hazards as they are often mistaken for small balls and picked up. Hard to imagine living daily in another country with previous battle fields or target zones with all that shit just waiting to go off on some poor sob not even born at the time. Gotta hand to us Yanks, you'll never be able to say we're not a traveling team

The lucky thing is I am going to Coventry today so will avoid Birmingham again.

    Should be OK for tomorrow.

When I was a kid we lived in Kuwait (during the Iran/Iraq war). We used to go on picnics and go camping out in the desert on weekends. Out by the Mutla Ridge, we were very near the front lines and could hear the artillery as it was only a few miles away.

We used to find loads of munitions scattered around the place, crashed jets, tanks, jeeps, shells and shitloads of guns. I used to collect AK47s from there. At one point I had over 50 of them, so I took them to the local market, set up a stall and sold most of them. I think I was 11 or 12 years old.

No namby pamby health and safety out there in those days

It's pretty certain that this bomb wasn't the only German one that landed on Coventry.

London, Coventry and Plymouth got the hell bombed out of them. More than anywhere else in the UK. Flattened a lot of places here so very rare to find an unexploded one. We still have the bombed church as a symbol on entering the city. The blitz was devastating.
