47-year-old Sergio Martinez ranked #3 middleweight in the world
Re: 47-year-old Sergio Martinez ranked #3 middleweight in the world
I saw this the other day. Fucking ridiculous! Absolutely pointless.
Re: 47-year-old Sergio Martinez ranked #3 middleweight in the world
Sergio is at the age where Jake Paul might be giving him a call :S.....
Re: 47-year-old Sergio Martinez ranked #3 middleweight in the world
Sergio has whipped himself into good shape but the fishy nature of the WBA has stunk this situation out completely or really the WBA stinks I should say. GGG looks ready to go for this.

This is actually a very good point. I’m not sure Jake Paul could make that weight, but if he could , it would offer the best chance he’ll ever get of getting a World ranking.

When has weight classes ever got in the way of corruption:S... Although I do think this would be a bridge too far even for boxing, surely impossible for the WBA to somehow transfer the ranking to Jake Paul but it is boxing....
I do think it's possible Jake Paul might try to get him into a fight at a higher weight glass, Martinez was already in bad physical condition when he was last world champion, his age is good for Paul, and he could advertise as him fighting a former champion who's ranked number 3 in the world, just leave out the fact it's at middleweight and a joke ranking.
Re: 47-year-old Sergio Martinez ranked #3 middleweight in the world
Crazy really, he's been far more active at 47 than a Charlo among others. Now sits #2 :-X in what passes as the 'elder' wba ranking with Golovkin and Lara holding belts. Don't know what they did with his shot knees over the years but the way they looked with Cotto never imagined him active again. But he's playing with fire.
Re: 47-year-old Sergio Martinez ranked #3 middleweight in the world
Good point his knees were definitely sketchy I always felt against cotto already and that was like what 10 years ago
Re: 47-year-old Sergio Martinez ranked #3 middleweight in the world
Wasn't it in the last round of the Chavez fight that his knee went and he was on shaky legs ever since, I very much doubt the time away has helped his health much :S
Re: 47-year-old Sergio Martinez ranked #3 middleweight in the world
now forty eight & ranked number two by the wba

Sergio must be into promoting and making some money like Felix Sturm in his old age.
Maybe I am feeling nostalgic but I must admit it is good seeing him boxing at a good level. Far better entertainment and credibility than you tubers and Fraud Mayweather.

The only ones affected are the ones that think he is the best ever.
