Example of a good amateur boxing gym
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-46ETSJKT0
This is a documentary I made about my local boxing gym.
I have posted it on the main board but thought it might be better suited here as some people probably never been in a boxing gym.
Just a bit of info about the gym.John Radmore who is the trainer being intervied,in the past has helped train the Welsh boxing squad. Also Daniel Champman who he mentions is in the Olympic squad for the 2012 games. He is the lad in the red vest doing the fancy skipping. He won the youth Commanwealth games last year at 52kg in India.
Since the film was made Gwynfi Boxing Club had 3 new Welsh champions. From a village of less than 1800 people it is a great achevement.
Any questions please ask.

Porky that was a fantastic effort and it looks like a brilliant Gym I've never seen anything like it !
Was that a typical night ?
Wish there was something along similar lines where I live we have a successful club which I shant name that has produced 1 high profile world champion , unfortunately that club has it's fair share of arseholes very intimidating atmosphere and a clique of trainers kinda from the old school of agression '' he's gotta fight or he wont stay mentality which I personally abhore.
Where do you stand on boxing in schools ? I'm personally dead against it especially remembering what it was like at my high school where if you were not 6-2 sporting a beard you were not even considered for any kind of team .
You need good people to run a good club and I think good people are a rarity today you end up with the choosen few getting all the attention and shy introverted kids at the back never realising potential talent.
Does your gym get lottery funding ? I had to look twice when I saw the plaque because I thought it said your name ,Dr Gibbons .
Keep up the brilliant work mate you and John Radmore your a credit to your community
Fantastic work .

Thanks for the comments.
That was a typical night for the last year or so.Some times there are to many boys and not enough bags.
Its hard to tell how many are going to tern up.
A few years ago the gym was down to only a handfull of boys training but now as you can see we are now a bit overrun.
I think Daniel Chapman gets some sort of funding because he is in the GB Olympic squad but for the most part the gym is funded by local groups and out of Johns pocket.
99.9% of the credit has to go to John because he has kept the gym going through thick and thin.
I only help out now and then because I work nights and when I dont I got to look after my daughter.
If you like the video put a comment on YOUTUBE because I know John and a lot of the boxers are always checking it out and the comments mean a lot to them.
Thanks mate;D

Great video!!!! Audio sounded a bit like a church but its all good ;D. I love to see gyms where they pay kids that kind of attention. Most the gyms I've seen, their trainer is always more concerned about their PROs. I like they way they train together in groups, great concept.
