Who is Prince Ajuma and why is Roy fighting him?
Who is this guy? Has anyone seen him fight before? Of all the fights Roy could take after 3 consecutive losses, why would he pick someone most people have probably never heard of?
Then again, I didn't know much about Glen Johnson before he stretched Roy out, too.
Re: Who is Prince Ajuma and why is Roy fighting him?
If you've seen the recent photo's of Hamed, it might be him with a name change. He looks like he's about 175 lbs. Sheesh!
Re: Who is Prince Ajuma and why is Roy fighting him?
The only two names on Ajuma's record that stick out are Hoye and Grant; and he lost to both!
Hoye loked a threat at Light Heavy, until Clinton Woods burst his bubble; Grant has lost to Jones.
It is not a gimme, virtually no one is, after what RJJ has gone though lately, but I would of thought Jones thinks he can win, or he would of gone straight after a bigger fight.
I am not so sure, RJJ maybe that shot... But I take Jones to do it, but having to come off the floor to win on a split decision. ;)
Re: Who is Prince Ajuma and why is Roy fighting him?
two easy fights under his belt, and Roy will get his confidence back

I couldn't agree more with you on this. I think its a smart thing to do on his part to get a couple wins under him and then step up to the plate against the big dawgs. I think he's at the point where all he wants to do is win so like you said can get his confidence back up.
Re: Who is Prince Ajuma and why is Roy fighting him?
confidence builder to go on and either fight Calzaghe, or to go back to heavy and take on Toney in a rematch

My only issue (being a fan of Jones Jr) is that Johnson was supposed to be a tune up/easy outting...& Roy got clocked.
I just wish Roy would retire...completely.

wacko--great point
the only difference is that johnson had been a pretty good fighter and would have had a better resume going into the jones fight had he not gotten jobbed out of several decisions along the way.........so i think prince badi is safer than johnson was but hes still no gimme because there is no such thing as a gimme for roy ever again..

Great idea, always think it works. I remember Ali comming back against fringe contender Trevor Berbick, or Tyson fighting that fringe contender Danny Williams. They both showed the critics, who was shot! ;)
Re: Who is Prince Ajuma and why is Roy fighting him?
Dont really know anything about him. The thing that does stand out is that hes being trained by Mcgirt. I think Roys taking this as a confidence builder and maybe also seeing what Mcgirts plan for beating Roy is... minus the tall awkward southpaw factor.
Roy wants to get the tune-up he never had a chance to before the third tarver fight, because HBO wouldnt allow him one because he only had one fight left on his contract with them. Roys trying to go about things the right way, because he didnt have a chance to before. I dont know what his plans are further than this. Lets just hope this isnt a stepping stone to another pass at Tarver. The obsession has become a bit unhealthy though maybe its the only thing driving him at this point... Theres nothing left to prove. Everyone knows Roy would have whooped him inside of 6 when he was in his prime. Roy wants proof I guess. As a fan of Roy, I dont need proof but i'll respect the man wishes and support him in what he decides to do.
Re: Who is Prince Ajuma and why is Roy fighting him?
Roy has always wanted 50 career wins and this is probably what he's after more than anything else..although if he looks good while doing it he would more than likely try to fight a bigger opponent...

Ali was already showing pre-mature signs of Parkinsons when he fought against Berbick, and Tyson had Williams done in the 1st until the knee prob, if you would have used the Leonard/Camacho fight as an example i wouldn't be saying anything
