Mayorga threatens pull out!

After today's press conference, WBC super welterweight champion Ricardo Mayorga threatened to pull out of Saturday's fight with Oscar De La Hoya unless he is paid $8 million dollars. Although Mayorga signed for $2 million "to lure Oscar into taking the fight," he stated "if I don't get my money, I'm not going to fight. I'm going to make what I deserve....I don't want it to be like the Trinidad fight where Trinidad got all the money." He stated that he was promised eight million and wants to be paid like a champion. Mayorga's promoter Don King said, this is the first he's heard of eight million dollar figure. Mayorga said he would announce later today whether he is fighting or not, "but I'm not fighting unless I get my eight million."

Don't let Don King short change you ;) You're the champion, and Oscar is challenging for your title ;) Don't take crums under DLH. kind of contradicting, didn't Mayorga say he would fight DLH for free ???

If he signed a contract to get 2 million that's all he should get. I seriously doubt Don King will be hustled into giving him 8 mill, this is Don King after all. Maybe its Mayorga's version of a mind game, to distract ODLH, cause I'd be shocked if he got 8, and since he signed the contract he doesn't really have anything to complain about.

He's really a mad man after all, signing a contract for 2mil, then turns around and demands 8 mil.

He's just mad because ODH is going to knock his price down (by dominating him 1-12 ) and he doesn't want to work to bring it back up to where it was after the Forrest fight!

whoaa that is really low. a fight with oscar is supposed to be your payday on which you could retire on. everyone made their career paydays when they fought oscar. shane made $7 million, bernard made $12 million, Vargas made $8 million, Tito made his first double digit million dollar payday, even gatti made his first million dollar paycheck with oscar. 2 million is really low for fighting oscar, I can see why mayorga would be upset coz oscar is prolly going to make around $15 to $20 million for this fight. but going from $2 million and demanding $8 million is absurd. at most mayorga should make 4 to 5 million

Yeah, sure!!! Mayorga's gonna pull out of this fight. And you know what else? The Bucks are gonna win the NBA championship, too. Oh, that's right. The Bucks were eliminated from the playoffs tonight by the Pistons so I guess that's not going to happen either. . . . . . . see my point?

I'm sure there's at least one decent fighter out there that would fight Oscar for $2 millon with a few days notice. Hell, I'd do it.

im sure mayorga will fight....a contract is a contract and he knows it....

its either mind games or he's gone a bit mad again...

i presume the former...

He is trying to play a mind game on Oscar. He will fight! He is just trying to get Oscar to think of something else besides kicking his a$$.
