WBA outlines conditions for fight to be sanctioned
The WBA has conditionally agreed to sanction the Luis Collazo-Ricky Hatton fight subject to the following:
1) The winner will be committed to face #1 rated Oktay Urkal within 120 days of May 13.
2) The winner against Urkal must face the winner of the Joel Julio-Carlos Quintana eliminator no later than February 13, 2007.
3) Hatton is ranked in the upcoming welterweight rankings.
4) Due to the shortness of time, other requirements (i.e. appointing of officials) are waived.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This must still be OK'd by WBA President Gilberto Mendoza, plus two-thirds of the executive committee and plus two-thirds of the championship committee.
Re: The conditions for the Hatton bout to be sanctioned for WBA belt
woah!!! Hatton must fight 2 mandatories! :-\
looks like trying to build up some stateside reaction by fighting other "big" names is going to be somewhat limited if restricted like this....
is the belt really worth that much??
i dont really think so....dont fight for the belt and just make a big impression and then other big fights can follow....thats my take on it...belts are just a nice addition, but to be tied up for a year as being the conditions for keeping it, well they can keep it....
we shall see...

No. There is no demand for an Urkal fight and the Julio - Quintana winner will be much to green for Hatton.
