I honestly believe the Knockdown was a big factor in this fight!!
I have watched the fight three times now, and i still have Collazo winning by one round, but i feel the knockdonw had alot to do with how the fight planned out, Hatton saw red aftert that and i feel the gameplan went out of the window, im not making excuses for Hatton's performance which was quite ordinary, but after that he just wanted to get in close and take him out, people say give Collazo a rematch i would not disagree, but Hatton will come in more of a favourite for me and do the job more impressivly.
Hatton had an off night, lets judge him after two or three more fights at 147.
This guy was a seasoned 147 campaigner, unlike Floyd, but Floyd will go in as a big favourite if Hatton decides to not turn up with his boixing skills. Hatton is still a P4P fighter no doubt and lets see what he does next time out.

he struggles with Zab's speed early who is also not a natrual welter and lets face it Collazo wouldn't run out of steam like Zab did... just thinking out load :)

I agree Saddo, against Floyd it would be a much differentr fight, but Ricky was closing the distance in stright lines he cant do that with Floyd, or we could have the twelev round quite often in the fight, Collazo is a big man, Floyd isnt, that's Hatton's saving grace for me, Floyd i feel can be bullied, but we will wait and see.

I dont' think it was Zab running out of steam... IT was FLoyd figuring out his style and countering it that nullified Zab for the rest of the fight.

If he had not knocked Collazo down, and had Collazo won the round 10-9, Ricky would probably be an ex-champ now.

The thing everyone agrees on is a bullying physical style would be the best thing to use to beat Floyd which is why Hatton and Cotto are brought up all the time.
There is NO WAY Luis won the first round, knockdown or no knockdown

Oh, I agree - what I was doing was (hopefully) responding to the topic question. The knockdown ended up being a big factor because the fight was so close. IF Collazo had won the round instead of being dropped, I think the outcome would have been different, I didn't mean to imply that I thought he HAD won it

Agreed. I think that might have been one of his downfalls also. He unloaded an ass load of energy over the next few rounds...that might be what gassed Hatton out & had him stumbling around the ring in the 11th & 12th rounds.

Seriously...we know that's not true...& we also know that anything's possible. Who woulda thought that Hatton couldn't stop Collazo after dropping him? Who woulda thought that Collazo could have hurt Hatton as often as he did?
No one knows...but I'd like to think that Floyd would be able to work out his differences with Collazo...the big question to be posed is...can Hatton work out his differences with established men @ 147?

I really don't think that Collazo would have the abilities to hang with Floyd like he hung with Hatton...I just don't. I know that Hatton hits hard...but Floyd hits accurate.

this post went down hill once you put Hatton and boxing skills in the same sentence....Hatton needs to stay at 140....He didn't have an off night...he finally fought a worthy challenger....and Hatton lost that fight outright...even with the BS KD! An too much has been placed on this moving up in weight...either you have what it takes or you don't...RJJ, James Toney, Evander Holyfield and Chris Byrd (minus his last fight) were a few that were able to effectively move up in weight...against MUCH bigger opponents...Hatton is overrated...sorry Britain you're going to have to wait for a true champion....

Oh he has skill but hes lacking in the tecnical department.I said the same about lacy,sam peters, and now hatton. I love his heart, his pressure style and his body punching but 9 times out of 10 a good boxer beats a good brawler.And in the case of floyd i think it s a great boxer versus a good brawler. He gonna have to implore more boxing into his style because if he fought floyd tomorrow he would get whooped. Thats because he doesn't have the fastest feet or hands and his defense is basically his offense. I like hatton but he must improve technically if he wants to hang with the bigger guys and the skilled boxers of the world.
