Dont count hatton out of 147!
Everyone remember oscar who should of lost to sturm coz he couldnt handle the extra weight and showed it....then he fought hopkins and looked in very good shape and fought a lot better. Its a learning curve and its bound to happen. I know i was one of the guys to jump up and attack hatton after this...and i still stick by what i said but hatton aint the only one this has happened to before. Maybe one more fight with a 147 bloke..should be collazo again and see how he goes this time.

But Oscar immediately lost & dropped back down to a manageable weight.

Great point Snakey, it was his first fight at 147 against a champion and quite a big WW, Lets give Hatton his dues, lets see if he grows into the weight but i wouldnt advise jumping up and down in weight.

Yeah but he gave it one more go against the best and theres no shame in losing to the best wacko you know that. Give the guy one more chance and you know what it means coming from me about hatton ;)

I don't need to give him one more chance...he's got it. I aint writing the kid off as a fighter like many are...I just think that he's better suited at 140...just like Floyd is & just like Cotto should be...reason being...here's my opinion on the weight jumping...
These guys are all fast, slick, cracking, whatever at 140...because they kill themselves to stay within the 10-15lb range of lowering their weight...follow me so far?
Okay.
Then...they move up a class...just a few lbs...then they start to get lax while out of the gym...Hatton is notorious for it...drinkin his pints & fattening up...it's then harder to get down to the weight...even when they have moved up in a class...but they make it anyways...but guess what...something's missing.
Something was missing in Hatton after the 6th round.
A blind man coulda seen it. He was sluggish. He didn't rip to the body anymore...he just threw to the body. Instead of throwing through the body as he usually does...he threw to it.
Big difference.
Jones lost when he started moving up & down.
Floyd has also lost some of Floyd on the rise....just as I feel Oscar did...just as I feel Cotto will.

excellent post....Oscar knew and did drop...hopefully Hatton does as well....He would be great at 140 and average at 147...Collazo will get him in the rematch......
Re: Dont count hatton out of 147!
Collazo ain't gonna do shit in the rematch because Ricky won't make the same mistake twice

What mistake?
Re: Dont count hatton out of 147!
Not working enough on the inside and giving Collazo too much room at time. I'm also sure he'll work more on his power too.
Re: Dont count hatton out of 147!
Hatton clearly won, but had a tough fight. It may not have been just the weight. He didn't seem as motivated for this fight as others. Either way winning a tough fight doesn't lower someones stock. He fought through getting his bell rung in the last round, and came back strong in the same round. It was a very competetive fight and Collazo being a lefty makes it a little more ackward.

Great points Wacko :coolclick: I just see that if Floyd is going to continuee with his "fastest ever five weight champ" dream then Hatton will have to stay at welter for the big fight. Its a shame because like you said, all are better at light welter but what can u do? You cant force these guys to stay there.

:coolclick: back AC.
The thing is...I think that Floyd & Hatton will have to come face to face...provided that one or the other doesn't get blown out by a bigger man.
Re: Dont count hatton out of 147!
If you ask me if Ricky is gonna stay at welter than he should look to brush up on his in ring skills, Cause from what I saw against Collazo he appearantly wasn't at his best. He's is going to have to train even harder if he want's to go against the likes of the champs like Margarito,Cotto, Pretty boy and the other top ranked guys. :-*
Re: Dont count hatton out of 147!
Hatton didn't have a good fight, but he also doesn't deserve half the critisism some people have been giving him, I've also seen him have off fights at light welterweight and I think if he trains hard he MAY be able to bat PBF.

Not the same scenario first Hatton is much bigger naturally in comparison to 147 than Oscar is naturally in comparison to 160. Second Hatton style relies more on his size and strong than does Oscar's. My third and final point is Oscar had more skill and could get away with moving up wieghts easier... that is why Mayweather at 147 is still doing good because talent transcends weight levels more than anyhting else.
