Has a fighter ever refused a victory?

Has a fighter ever refused to accept a victory, because he felt he had lost? Would you, I didn't. Fought a guy, hurt me early (probably in the first min), never felt that i was in the fight, even told him so. He didn't seem all that surprised that I got the W. Watched the film, realized I was mistaken The first round was the only round I lost. Not even sure I could have refused the W.

I wouldnt and anyone who does needs their head checked

I know what your saying but if you get the decision on a close fight then see it as a lesson learned.

Yep Richie Woodhall after getting a decision over Glenn Catley said and i quote...

"i didnt win that fight the kid beat me"

Class guy always liked him after that statment ;)

I'm going to say"NO"....I've seen fighters afterward tell the other guy he thought he won but that was always in confidence with not many people around and never do they ofer up the winners share....maybe in the amateurs....never in pro's

Daniel Judah told the press and the interviewer after the fight with Glen Johnson, Daniel said "I thought I lost."

No alleged about it, he walked up to Walcott after the fight, said sorry, and walked out the ring, so Walcott could take the applause of the crowd.

I was Watching Fox Sport's beyond the glory "Story of Sugar Ray Leonard", and the interview he gave he admitted that Thomas Hearns beat him in the second meeting {Quote} " I was happy I recieved a draw but if I was a judge in that fight I would have given it to Tommy". I don't know if he actually admitted it directly after the loss in the late 80's but at least he had enough class to admit at all.

Sorry, I was autopilot the first time I read this thread and did not respond correctly. Who in the fuck would refuse a victory in anysport or any competition. If you ain't cheatin you ain't tryin. Some boxers will be good sportsmen after the fight and say they did not win but nobody will refuse a victory

Yes as far as I know, no fighter who won a decision ever went to the commissions and tried to get it reversed. Only way I know how a fighter could refuse victory.

I have seen the fighters faces after a bout, and it was obvious that even they knew they had lost the fight. On the other hand I have seen fighters who obviously lost the bout, get the decision and be perfectly fine with it.

Refuse a win? Ain't no fighter trying to take a win away from themselves

Like Saddo , Richie Woodhall is only one I ever remember admitting he thought he lost after a fight. That was in the post fight interview with Glenn next to him.

Hoped Evander would do same after Lewis I.


Thats why I never liked Vitali Klitschko after he was fought and outclassed by Herbie Hide in 1999. He should have refused the victory.

Herbie whooped him that night and he knows it !

I guess you also thought PBF should have admitted Gatti really won their fight? HAHAHA, LOL!!!
