THE CONTENDER...NOT JUST A CHEESY BOXING SHOW...REVIVING CAREERS
Gary "the tiger" Balletto is rumored to be in the next contender.  Great brawler but been inactive for a while.(think he got dec. by goyo vargas last....not sure though but vargas was a former world champ)  I think this show is not just helping to revive boxing on a small scale but is giving good boxers who had all but given up on all the bull the drive that they had when they first started...  When a boxer starts his career they're world beaters(in there minds)  but soon the beauocracy and bad calls mixed with shady/bad promoters, and dwindling purses suck the drive out of an aging boxer who probably never got his shot.  I think looking at what happened...  The notariaty that many of these contender alums....  these par boxers, have recvd is getting these former fringe contenders the "why not me's"....  What do ya think?

Re: THE CONTENDER...NOT JUST A CHEESY BOXING SHOW...REVIVING CAREERS
they should do a heavyweight version
Re: THE CONTENDER...NOT JUST A CHEESY BOXING SHOW...REVIVING CAREERS
I DONT THINK I'D LIKE TO SEE THAT... I JUST THINK IT WOULD BE BORING... THEY'RE FINDING LEGIT PROSPECTS ON THE SHOW... THEY CANT EVEN FIND LEGIT PROSPECTS IN REAL LIFE FOR THE HWD...

heavyweights are boring as hell
Even with highlights and the music in the background, the fight would still be boring

balletto hasnt fought since his Decision loss to vargas, last time i spoke to him he wanted to take a break from it, and at the time he was filming for the documentary called "sweet dreams" (really good documentary). He owns acouple of buisness's and also is a representitive for JAB, The Joint Association of Boxers, to try and unionize the sport and get boxers some benifits. The 2nd contender is going to be a blast, and surprising :o
