Mike Tyson to a be a commentator
TYSON ACCEPTS ARUM'S OFFER, READY TO BECOME IRON MIC!
By G. Leon
Moments ago former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world "Iron" Mike Tyson told Boxingtalk.com that he will gladly accept Top Rank's offer to make his commentating debut doing the international broadcast of the Hasim Rahman-Oleg Maskaev rematch. "It's a beautiful thing Greg, I just want to thank Mr. Arum for this opportunity to fulfill my desire of sharing my boxing knowledge with the the rest of the world." There will be much more to follow, including another exclusive interview with the biggest name in boxing as well as an interview with Bob Arum, the first promoter to put Tyson behind the Iron Mic! Stay tuned to our front page at all times!
The boxing world will be better off having Tyson involved in one way or another.
Re: Mike Tyson to a be a commentator
imagine if Tyson worked for Hbo what do you think would have happened if he had arguments with Larry like George and Roy used too
Re: Mike Tyson to a be a commentator
Larry Merchant and Mike Tyson would draw HUGE ratings and would be funny as hell
Re: Mike Tyson to a be a commentator
I hope this commentating gig could be a path to discipline and a structured life for tyson. and the funny thing about this is that Mike Tyson will be a better commentator than Lewis.

Yes it would be completely classic, imo.. And Tyson really does know boxing.. I doubt he would ever be hired on a permanent basis by HBO though, too much liability and he proably wouldn't be consistent..
Re: Mike Tyson to a be a commentator
Tyson has always had good knowledge of boxing and it's history. I think he'll do just fine. I can't see him doing worse than Lennox Lewis.
Re: Mike Tyson to a be a commentator
what if another commentator pisses off Mike Tyson?
haha, I'll eat your children alive bitch!
Re: Mike Tyson to a be a commentator
Tyson has always been a diligent historian and researcher of the sport and he also seems quite socialble so thus he should make a great commentator.

This is not Tyson's commentating debut. He commentated the Simon Brown-Vincent Pettway fight, the one where Brown got KO'd and was throwing punches on his back.

No, maybe Tyson might get frustrated and reach over and bite the hell out of Larry Merchant or Jim Lampley or someone..
Otherwise, I can't wait to see him on tv. I think it's a good idea.
Re: Mike Tyson to a be a commentator
His knowledge is great, but I'm just worried he won't be able to get it across. I hope he does. I think he just gets nervous talking or something. If he's confident I think he'll do well.
Re: Mike Tyson to a be a commentator
Tyson knows his shit, but like others said, has trouble expressin himself. I think he will behave himself personally. Guy needs the money.
Re: Mike Tyson to a be a commentator
Didn't Lampley and Merchant talk absolute back-stabbing shit about Tyson when he lost to Lewis? I'd rather he worked for Showtime. At least they showed him 'some' loyalty unless these two gibbering idiots. Still, I await with anticipation.
