I never taught he did
You right VChilds. ;)
4:49 of the first.
Hughes controlled the fight, it got to the ground & Gracie had no answer for Matt's power.
On the ground, Hughes got Royce's left arm in an armbar that was borderline obscence in the angle, & Royce didn't even change the totally flat look on his face.
He felt no pain.
At that point, I realized he would never tap, even if Hughes ripped his arms off.
The Gracie family pride is total.
His dad, who invented the Gracie fighting style, was at ringside, & the son would rather die than tap.
I respect that.
After Hughes failed in getting him to tap on the armbar, Matt got on top of Royce Gracie (face down) Matt's hips & weight perfectly stationed to keep Gracie dominated.
Then he rained 17 haymakers on Royce's head & face until Big John McCarthy stopped the fight.
Lots of pride, lots of skill, lots of action in under 5 minutes.
Great Fight!!!
:thumb: (my guy won) :usa:
back in the old days of the UFC that fight wouldn't have been stopped. But this is today. I do not think Hughes is better then Gracie. I think Gracie in his prime would take Hughes, but this wasn't a prime Gracie.
Well that fukin sucks. Between that and the boring ass excuse for a fight between Montiel and Gonzalez, tongight just sucks. >:madQuote:

It's just another one of those Marciano in his prime versus Ali in his prime :bs: topics.
Royce even went in with trunks instead of his little robe thingy, ;D to make sure Hughes wouldn't have something to grab onto.
I feel your pain, & I honestly am sympathetic to it. :yes:Quote:

Believe it or not.
Gi's should always have been banned in UFC.
No other dicipline gets an advantage. IMO
What about Kendo?
i didn't see the fight but im not suprise matt tko'ed royce gracie...what was gracie thinking coming off retirement to fight todays most dominant champion...we can say royce is past his prime thats why he was dominated by matt...but seeing royce past fights and matts past fight i'd still think matt would win prime for prime...royce never fought some1 close to matts abbility...matt is to strong for the now and prime royce...
I don't know.Quote:

You tell me.
All I know is nobody else I know of wears a 'little outfit' in the modern UFC.
Ken Shamrock in his day was better then Hughes will ever be.Quote:
