Hopkins' ex-trainer, Bouie Fisher isn't picking Hopkins to win his fight against Tarver. Bernard Hopkins takes on Antonio Tarver this Saturday at The Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City, NJ.
Bouie Fisher in an Interview conducted by Bernard Fernandez for Philly.com had this to say about his ex-student, Bernard Hopkins chances: "First of all, Bernard is fighting a guy who is much bigger than him. Tarver can fight, and he's not afraid. Put all that together, and Bernard, as great as he is, is in for a tough time. The size difference, I think, is going to play a major role in the outcome."
Until recently, Fisher and Hopkins have been together for 18 years

good point. Hopkins struggles against big guys. his recent losses to Jermaine Taylor shows this. The only way I see Hopkins could win this fight is if Tarver is overconfident and doesn't come in expecting to work hard for a win.

He didn't lose to Taylor though... He was robbed IMO.

I wonder what made them split ways, anybody know if it was mutual or bad blood?

He did lose to Taylor he got on the gas too late, not enough rounds to win.........

I think he lost both fights fair and square, but Taylors' size and strength were not really contributing factors. Hopkins simply started too late in both fights.
In the first fight he lost 6 of the first 8 rounds, the best he could have conceivably had was a draw.
Second fight he started earlier, but Taylor held his nerve better and finished the final round better than B Hop so deserved 115-113.
I think Hopkins insistent belief he won the first fight led to him not changing his gameplan for the second.
If he still sees himself as cheated I think it is bad omen for the Tarver fight.....
He needs to be active from the beginning.
UD decision for Tarver, Hopkins will no doubt claim he was robbed again after a late flurry over the final 2 rounds. ::**
