Unbeaten welterweight prospect Demetrius Hopkins went to 24-0-1 (10KOs) with a breathtaking ninth round KO of the very decent Michael Warrick at the Borgata Hotel, Casino & Spa, Atlantic City. Warrick, Wednesday night.
The nephew of former middleweight royalty Bernard Hopkins had a fight, though, as Warrick, who drops to 18-3 (11KOs) was right in the fight until a huge right cross sent him to oblivion in the ninth.
Warrick crashed to the canvas, face down, at 1:58 if the round. It took several minutes for him to regain his composure but his was fine.
Hopkins looks ready to be stepped up.
Also, former "The Contender's" villain Ishe Smith returned and hammered Patrick Thompson, winning virtually every round to take a 98-92, 99-91, 99-91decision.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh jeeeeeeeeeah!!!

Re: Demetrius Hopkins scores yet another impressive KO
He looked tentative early and he didn't throw the right enough, but I thought he won all but one or two rounds, Teddy gave Warrick too much credit for just coming forward. I've gotten to the point where I almost can't listen to Teddy, he has these preconceived notions about how a fight should be fought and he bases his scoring on that, not on actual CLEAN PUNCHES.
The right hand finish was nice, little Hop's got deceptive power, that speed lets him catch guys with right hands they don't see.
