Khan'i need to be mature'.
Amir Khan has vowed to cut out the showboating that led to some criticisms following his impressive points win over Laszlo Komjathi.
The Olympic silver medallist tackles Colin Bain at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on July 8, the eighth time he will have stepped through the ropes as professional.
And he says he will try not to drop his hands in the way he did on a couple of occasions against Komjathi when he racked up a six-round points win.
"I've got to be a little bit more mature and keep my hands higher," said Khan, who admitted he learned a lot from the clash with the former European lightweight title challenger.
"I like to entertain the fans and there is some pressure on me, but I just have to be sensible."
Meanwhile Khan says he is yet to watch a video of Bain, who has only suffered one defeat in 11 starts and is confident of causing an upset.
"Hopefully we'll get some videos of Bain in action and I'll sit down with my trainer, Oliver Harrison, and study them," Khan told sportinglife.com.
"It's going to be brilliant fighting in Cardiff, particularly in the stadium. It's a shame Joe Calzaghe isn't fighting, but it's still a great card to be on."
he forgot to mention cutting out being a bighead ;D
Re: Khan'i need to be mature'.
Well he needs to be mature... but WILL he is the question, he only needs to get tagged once to get knocked into clowning. ;)
Re: Khan'i need to be mature'.
yeh saying and doing is two different things.depends how hyped he gets.
Re: Khan'i need to be mature'.
I know he says this. Remember Harrison said "I need to be more aggressive." Whats happened? Its good to know and better to say, but if you can't do it it means nothing ;D
Re: Khan'i need to be mature'.
khan has a lot of pressure on him, what would you lot do if you were in his position, wouldnt u get tempted to show off a bit? I BET YOU WOULD!

id keep my guard up and listen to my trainer. ;D
Re: Khan'i need to be mature'.
Basically its what he should do. He shouldn't taunt if he's not in position to, last time he taunted what happened ;D At least when Naz did it it was a strategy to get his opponent to overcommit or make a mistake. Amir seems to just taunt for the sake of taunting but when he gets hit he doesn't know the second step to it ;D

Good point coolclick....i just hope Amir doesnt throw away all that obvious talent he has been gifted with.
Re: Khan'i need to be mature'.
he will get knocked out as soon as he gets a decent opponent, so overrated its unbelievable!

clowning catches up to everybody and Kahn will be no different...you have to practice it in order to do it....i think it will take a Ko or some KD's to finally get though to him...
Re: Khan'i need to be mature'.
Of course he's a talented fighter, but I don't understand all the exposure and hype on account of it being so early. Is it because he's a Muslim and it's the world's next shot at an Ali or Naz? The reason I ponder this is because I don't believe he's half the prospect that Joel Julio is, yet you hear half as much about JJ. Not to mention people crowding him saying you're the next this and that will cause the big headed Naz syndrome. It's human nature to get caught up in your own hype, and I hope it doesn't happen to Amir as I've said he's got something. And I can't wait for him to fill out so they can feed that something to Joel :)

I think it's the Talk shat syndrome...if you talk enogh and doo enough shat people(media) will take notice and get him title shots and publicity quicker...
Re: Khan'i need to be mature'.
feed him to joel quicker :)
it'll be the welterweight version of Tyson/Spinks if Joel isn't a jr. middleweight by then but I'm guessing he will be
