Will boxing's intergrity ever come back?
We have money making alphabet organisations handing out belts left right and center so they can earn sanctioning fees...
We have shit like Zab Judah/Roger Maywether happening in the ring...
We have fighters more bothered about trash talking and entertaining the crowd than actually boxing... who are usually full of hot air...
We have bad decisions... Judges tampering with score cards...
Fighters not making weights in big PPV events...
and I'm not even going to talk about what is wrong with the heavyweight division and Don King...
It all comes down to bodies and promoters trying to keep as much of the pie as they can...
all these bullshit bodys need to go... how exactly was Hopkins/Taylors... unified, undisputed title shattered and left on the floor for the scroungers to pick up? Outside of the ring...
I've lost interest... after Wright-Taylor, Maywether - Judah and all the other no shows and mismatches of this year, I really can't be bothered with watching boxing any more... lookis like its back to just competing for me until something can be done to sort this shit out (ie: nothing, never).
Tell me to get down off my soapbox... but boxing used to be a majority sport... it used to mean something to the public... Now if you want news on boxing... you check specialist press... two fighters fought to be crown undisputed middle weight king or the world... I didn't see one preveiw or right up in any British newspaper...

The thing is,and I don't mean to sound condasending here but hasn't boxing always been like this? Ie corrupt organisations,power figures,dodgy decisions etc etc? I mean I may not have been a fan for long but it does seem that this kind of shat happens alot anyway.I personally can see where you are coming from but there are also lots of great fights that occur that don't have al the above mentioned factors.Watch the flyweights,feather weights etc1!! Heck,you don't want dodgy decisions,watch Antonio Margarito,the fight won't go to the cards because he'll win by KO ergo no contraversy!
Seriously,you're probably really mad now but wait until Hatton fights or until the next big fight and you'll be back!!

Stuff like that seemingly is a modern phenomenon, that I to despise, although it could be argued these things have always happened in boxing, it was just not on film...

Boxing judging is at its finest in the history of the sport; nothing compares to what used to happen; for example when Champions were entitled to use their own officials...
Again weight making has always been a major issue in boxing, it is just a shame Corrales decided to pull out of the third Castillo fight. Yes I fully understand and appreciate why he did it. But boxing gave Corrales a second chance, to recover from his personal demons, so perhaps he should of repaid the favour?
Promotors have always tried to keep as much money as they can, i would argue the sport is as transparant as it has ever been, which I guess is not much, but it is improving all be it too slowly.

I would argue you are seeing better quality boxing than we have ever seen. We rarely do not get a super fight made. It may take a long time to do, but is rarely missed. I know society as a whole wants everything tomorrow, but I for one, love the anticipation of waiting a year, two or even three for a superfight. It is to me , one the things that attracts me to the sport, and makes it so intresting.
Boxing has lost a hell of a lot of its luster and mainstram value in Britain no doubt. But that is because it is always trying to change and adapt to look hip and trendy. Boxing is what it is, it should not try to change IMO. The seedy side of it is what intrests and indeed infuriates a lot of fans, and makes it unique from these squeaky clean sports IMO.

You make a lot decent points there. Think the point about the amount of governing bodies is spot on - they really do have to whittle the number of them down. I don't know if the dearth of hevyweight talent is the main problem in the lack of mainstream press exposure. As for the mayweather judah type incidents - this type of behaviour should mean severe penalties for those involved as they are in danger of inciting riots and jeopardising peoples safety. This is stuff boxing can do without.
Having said that there have been some good fights this year already and some good ones in the pipeline. I think there are enough good propects with the right attitude on the way to believe boxing is on the up these days though. Let's hope that's the case but time will tell.

i would have to say boxing is better nowdays ...there was a time when certain people nomatter how good they were couldnt get a title shot because they were black or not in w. the mafia...also early boxing was much more crooked w/ peoplethrowing fights,and before the "NBA there were many mock circus like chapions
today smaller weights have popularity were as they had no popularity at onetime
and also i like that by winning you can become a andatory challenger so that boxing is less of an entertainent bussiness than an actual real sport of winners ....
lol but one thing that hasnt changed is boxing always has a way of pi$$ing us off ;D

dont forget if there is only one champ ...and he only defends once or twice a yr ...it may take 5 years for a # 4 contender to get a shot at a belt (we know what can happen to a boxer in 5 yrs time) ...w/ 4 titles to each division even guys like u and i have 4 times as much of a chance to become a #1 contender of one of the belts ...u have to look at it like that

I think Boxing is much more about character.
I dont actually look at athletic abilty and think its the be all and end all i put great boxing down to mental fortitude .
Great Athletes dont make great boxers alot of great fighters are great athletes but not all .
I think people are more intrigued by an 8 round brawl at their local leisure centre rather than a world class boxing match.
Whilst i realise Premiership footballers have a far higher skill level than most boxers im more attracted to fighting character .
Boxing has always been shady alot of boxers are shady i dont think of boxers as truly professional its more showbusiness i dont say that to belittle boxers but alot of boxers themselves even at world class are not as disciplined as Alan Shearer or Jonothan Edwards or Johhny Wilkinson .
Boxing as much about what you got below the waist as what you've got upstairs.
Whereas Premier footballers lived a closeted life boxings much more working class , fighters are much more easy to identify with .

your very right its known as being very disciplined ...but like riddick bowe couldnt hack the Marines ...but how any of those Marines could stay composed to fight for 12 rounds ....,it does take a special type of person to be a boxer ....NORMAL people cannot stay calm enough or apply sound technique under pressure....alot of it has to do w/ being naturaly good at boxing or having done it since you were a kid ....its very bizarre though how boxing can attract all types
