Any one hear about the Superfighter tournament!
I was reading something about a Superfighter tournament in Austraila for heavyweights. The idea is to have 8 fighters fight four 3 minute rounds single elimination style. The winner would have to beat 3 people in a 4 hour period to win a $5 milllion purse. The fighters signed for this are:
Chris Byrd, Former IBF World Champion 39-3 (20 KO)
O'Neil Bell, WBC & IBF Cruiserweight No 1, 26-1 (24 KO)
Steve Cunningham WBC Cruiserweight No 1, 19-0 (10 KO)
Samuel Peter WBC No 3, 25-1 (21 KO)
Shannon Briggs, WBC No 7, 45-4 (40 KO)
Alexander Povetkin, 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist, 7-0 (5 KO)
Tye Fields, Looking for his shot, 36-1 (33 KO).
My money is on Sam Peter.

Yes I did, and I am hoping Oneil Bell makes a statement

Ok......
Toney should get into the tournament. He'd clean up on it.
Re: Any one hear about the Superfighter tournament!
Yeah it got called off. I remember reading an interview with O'Neil Bell on boxingtalk about it a couple weeks ago.
Never mind, it sounded shit anyway.
Re: Any one hear about the Superfighter tournament!
Oneil Bell isn't winning anything. One shot from Sam Peter will knock Bell's block off.

Thats probably true. These 4 round fights are custom made for someone like Sam who lacks the endurance.
Now he can just sit in the ring and throw wild punches non stop for four rounds.
As for Oneil Bell, he needs to stay right where he's at. If he comes up to heavy he's going to run into a heavy hitter sooner or later and it ain't gonna be pretty.
Re: Any one hear about the Superfighter tournament!
the bouts wernt going to go on records because the scoreing system was going to be different.
some shit about points for aggression, action replays bla bla
meant to make it exciting apparently - in my opinion it seemed to degrade the sport, if its fallen apart then ive got no complaints.

I'd cool click you if I could, my friend.
I remember watching Eric "Butter Bean" Esch in the original Tough Man Comp. We all know he is a sideshow act. There was also a deaf man and a guy with diabetes in the first one.
Re: Any one hear about the Superfighter tournament!
I said the "original" but I meant the PPV event that was on a few years before FX started airing it. I think it has been around awhile before I saw Butter Bean fight.
