warming up before a match
i was just wondering how pro fighters warm up before a fight, i've seen alot of them stretch and work the focus pads, what else do they do? and i heard they need to sweat? whats that about why does a fighter need to sweat before a match shouldnt they be going in fresh? and how much do they need to sweat?
Re: warming up before a match
Depends on the fighter some you calm down otyers you have to wind up I personaly dont do a lot. They know what they are there for just go out and do it. Its to late to have second thoughts. Some trainers are more nervous than the fighters and transfer their imotions to the fighter making the guy more nervous than He should be You see them on tv warming up but its the tv people who tell them to do it, makes good tv. They are all ready to go without wind up, beleive it. I beleive you should be calm before thr storm.
Re: warming up before a match
My trainer never hypes us up, my first fight I hyped myself up and it was like having a cloud in my head... You've got to be calm... but get the adrenalin ready to use...
Last time I fought my trainer had 3 lads on the bill, so I had to warm myself up... physically managed OK but I wasn't scare, hyped up or even what I would call calm... just... nothing...
Got in the ring and soon got into it but even if you feel your trainer is doing nothing... he's doing something ;)
Re: warming up before a match
as for why we warm up on pads etc Relent, if you go in cold it takes a while to get the ticker going... enough air to the muscles etc... its not a case of starting and A and tiring to B... what I mean is your fresher after getting warmed up... If I'm late to the gym and miss the warm up and go straight onto the bags... it takes a minute or two for me to get working... thats when you end up loosing points/getting caugh cold ;)
Re: warming up before a match
well, stretching, a bit of pad work and shadow boxing is good so that you don't shock your muscles if u get into fights unprepared.
but some coaches like...REALLY exaggerate with warming up their fighters before their matches... don't let him/them :)
Re: warming up before a match
Keep yourself warmed up to keep the blood flow at a certain rate...
Basically, you wouldnt jump in the ring right after you wake up in the morning, your joints and muscles wouldnt allow for it...
Stretch, work the mits, do some jump rope...anything to get the muscles warmed up and the joints loosened...
Then again, it all depends on the individual....
I like to get my fighters warmed up, and keep them warmed up by wrapping towels and making them wear a robe, even turning the AC in the room down a bit...
Good Luck,
Coach
Re: warming up before a match
you need a pulse raiser and stretches before you go into a boxing match at least... if not you'll probably pull a muscle and you need to raise the pulse to prepare the muscles for action i.e. get oxygen to the muscles quicker :)
Re: warming up before a match
Matt thats true 2 or 3 rds for sure lightly to start and biuld it up.Im big on stretch, but not before the contest, accidents can happen. You see some fighters before a fight leaving everything in the dressing room, just through nervous exhaustion by the time they get in the ring, theyre fucked. Ive seen fights won and lost in the dressing room , from novice to World titles.
