Even if Mexican icon Erik Morales need not limit his diet while training, he may not have the appetite to gobble the spicy remarks of Filipino boxing hero Manny Pacquiao. The 27-year-old Pacquiao recently vilified Morales’ by saying that next time they meet, the Filipino kingpin will make sure the Mexican warrior will eat his words.
“He talks a lot. Once we meet again I’m going to make him eat his words,” said Pacquiao in an interview. Pacquiao was referring to the reported excuses made by Morales regarding the Filipino fighter’s compelling victory over the Mexican early this year.
Morales, in several internet interviews stated that had he not fought Pacquiao, the Filipino fighter would still remain as an ordinary celebrity of the sport. Morales also reasoned out that he had a hard time making the weight in their rematch that eventually sapped his strength halfway through their 12-round brawl.
In their return bout January of this year at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Pacquiao inflicted Morales a sound beating in scoring a 10th round TKO win. Pacquiao’s stock rose to unprecedented heights after his win over Morales, making promotional outfit Top Rank drool over an anticipated Pacquiao-Morales trilogy.
The Pacquiao-Morales fight however is still not a cinch this November as the camps of both fighters still have to finalize essential details of their third encounter. Salient point of which is the ability of Morales to make the 130-lb weight limit without debilitating his skills.
Another part of the proposal is to give Morales a list of nutritionists that will monitor and give the Mexican the most appropriate diet while training for the match.
Though others doubt the fight will happen this year owing to Morales’ weight issue, most experts believe the completion of the trilogy is inevitable but will have to take place in the lightweight division sometime next year.
American trainer Freddie Roach disclosed earlier that Pacquiao may finally settle in the lightweight class where the Filipino will ultimately establish his boxing greatness.
Pacquiao is coming off an unambiguous 12-round unanimous victory over former long-time world super bantamweight champion Oscar Larios of Mexico last weekend at the Araneta Coliseum.

Pacman establishing his greatness at Lightweight? I don't know. Lightweight may be too high a weight class for manny. You've got guys like Corrales and Castillo up there who can take a punch. Pacman's power advantage would be greatly diminished here. IMO, Manny should stick at Super Featherweight, where without a doubt he's one of the best in the world today.

agreed cc..........there are still many fights left for PAC at super feather, why even concider going up to lightweight unless he wants to get kod.

Erik better back up his words otherwise he will look foolish.Pac to lighweight would be a bad move and maybe it's the strategy EM needs. If the fight is@130,I think he will struggle again.

This will be a WICKED fight. I think Pac will win because of his hunger and come forward style sometimes, but it just soooo hard to write off a living legend and a warrior such as EM.

Now Erik has done it! Pac's mad, He should have seen Larios. Sportsmanlike conduct all over, even after a knockdown they touch gloves :o What's up with that! Chololo is a nice guys like Pac and maybe because of those gestures that has Manny thinking of not letting it all out.
But it will be very different against EM, I know he can back those words up, but he better be prepared for an enraged Pac come November. Don't talk trash with nice guys, you'll eat them on the canvass.

IMO during the fight isnt the time to be sportsman like.. don't get me wrong im not saying go out and headbutt, hit low, and all that, but touching gloves during the fight, after knockdowns etc to me i don't wanna see my fighter doing that. I ant him getting up from a knockdown hating the guy in front of him, angry, nasty pumped up, not going over and being like "yeah nice punch mate here touch my glove.." there is a time and a place to give credit, and thats after the match!
And if EM wants manny at 130, then i would think making him angry, so he will fight like a 'mexican' would be the best plan. make him come forward and open him self up to a KO, his speed will be less, how good will his stamina be at that w8? can he fight his usual high temp fight at that w8? i think EM can easily, but manny? well time will tell

Of course thias fight is gonna go through the ceiling in terms of hype and so it should do....but its just way too early for me to even try and hazard a guess as to who might win it...
We know what Manny has in him as his stock has soared. The unknown variable is Morales here. What does he have left in the tank? And how will he recover from a first stoppage? With a proud man like Morales this creates an intriguing matchup for us....cant wait, folks!!! ;D
