Bernard Hopkins: "I'm bored as hell"!!!!
Bernard Hopkins has been retired a mere 3 weeks and already he is complaining about being bored. Three weeks ago Hopkins ended his career on a high note by dominating Antonio Tarver through 12 rounds. You'd think with all the free time after retirement, Hopkins would be having too much fun to be bored, but that is not the case.
In a recent interview by Dan Rafael of ESPN.com, Hopkins confides he is bored as hell.
Hopkins tells ESPN from his home in Deleware: "I'm bored as hell. I'm sitting here in this kitchen and I am bored as hell.
I've been retired three weeks and I am bored as hell. I can't stand still. I'm either mowing the lawn, washing the car or picking weeds."
Hopkins admits he is keeping busy and staying fit, telling ESPN: "I cannot shut my body down from being so active. I'll get sick. I'll go out and run. That's in me. Maybe it will wear off in 10 years. I've been programmed to be like this for so many years, so it will take time for me to settle down."

Re: Bernard Hopkins: "I'm bored as hell"!!!!
Didn't I just read this like a thread ago
Re: Bernard Hopkins: "I'm bored as hell"!!!!
Promoting is a good hobby, how about training Demetrius?
Re: Bernard Hopkins: "I'm bored as hell"!!!!
good point, start promoting,
But id love for him to train someone, hes got lots of smarts in the ring, and it would be nice for him to pass that along to another fighter.
Re: Bernard Hopkins: "I'm bored as hell"!!!!
The guy is a friggin genius in the ring... People say awkward... I say clever... You may as well try hitting the wind... I don't know if he could train someone to fight like him, though... Thats like RJJ trying to train somoene to fight like a fighting cock like himself... The styles are what these men ARE not what they've been taught.
Re: Bernard Hopkins: "I'm bored as hell"!!!!
one of the best defensive fighters of modern times, he would make a fantastic trainer
Re: Bernard Hopkins: "I'm bored as hell"!!!!
I dunno, he is one of the best defensive fighters of modern time, He will have forgotten more than most fighters know in a lifetime.
I don't know if he would make a good trainer as he is too used to being the star of the show himself, and a good trainer is always in the background, seen but not heard etc.
Hopkins has also been a difficult so-and-so, and he may find it hard to deal with a fighter who realises that he is employing Hopkins rather than vice-versa?
Re: Bernard Hopkins: "I'm bored as hell"!!!!
He said that he had no tempting offers in retirement, he can alway's come back and fight JT if he is bored.
Re: Bernard Hopkins: "I'm bored as hell"!!!!
If he bored in three weeks he will be back in three months
Re: Bernard Hopkins: "I'm bored as hell"!!!!
The best thing he could do is train new boxers... ;) ;)

Oh god no, imagine a dozen or so little B Hops, all robotic and mechanical, impossible to hit, defensive, cagey fighters who make everyone look bad.
No offense but if there were any more fights like Hopkins Taylor, Hopkins Tarver, Hopkins anyone than I may have to start getting into Pride :puke:
