Cooper Advises Hatton To Retire After 2 More
Cooper Advises Hatton To Retire After 2 More
In a recent interview with the Manchester Evening News, British boxing legend Henry Cooper feels that current WBA welterweight champion Ricky Hatton is already a legend in his counrty, and because of that he should fight two more times and retire.

He don't struggle to make the weight !
Credibility of the interview gone at that point in his comment.
Re: Cooper Advises Hatton To Retire After 2 More
Hatton says he doesn't struggle... the weight he walks around at suggest to me that he does... and I have heard off several people big in british boxing that he he does.
What ever way you look at it... drying up for fights will eventually take a few years off your life ;)
Re: Cooper Advises Hatton To Retire After 2 More
Cooper said Bruno should retire after the first Tyson loss...
He didnt and went on to win the title ::**
Splash it all over ::**
Re: Cooper Advises Hatton To Retire After 2 More
Hatton never struggles to make weight! Infact he's often struggled during camp to keep the weight on!

Are you talking about 147? Because I thought it was well known that Hatton struggled to make 140?? As for Cooper,he is looking at it from a British perspective, but from a world rounded view,Hatton needs quite a few more big fights to prove himself,a win over Kostya is not enough I'm afraid.

those comments seem a bit over blown...........Hatton has no credibility in the United States yet.......and if he truly wants to be considered one of the greats he needs to fight the big names...Cotto..Margarito...PBF..so there is at least 3 fights to fight and win to become one of the best......maybe beating an aging fighter is all it takes to become a legend in England if that's the case....I know that is not the true case over there in England...I was just getting your complete attention.....but if Hatton wants to leave a legacy like Eubank or Benn he needs those 3 fights to be in with that class of fighters.......

Well hatton can retire but he will be unproven in my books. Yeah he beat kostya...but as far as im concerned that aint enough considering the way he did it and as it has come out that kostya had trouble making weight. He won...but it wasnt a good win in my books, too many things were there to stop it being a good win. If he was to fight kostya in vegas and win by just plain beating him without so much wrestling....and less fouling then i would see the win as very good one. Hatton has the potential its just that if he wants to make it big in america he needs to change his style, he cant continue to hold and hit and foul because american fans wont accept it and the referees wont allow it as we saw a glimpse of against collazo. The one thing that bothered me is that he has trouble making weight for 140...but 147 he makes weight easier but he cant handle it. He doesnt have the same stamina and obviously the extra weight means he will face naturally bigger guys then him and maybe with more power and collazo wasnt even a power puncher yet he still had hatton on queer street in the last round. Or who knows, the tszyu win wasnt a walk in the park for either of the fighters and maybe that had an effect on them both. So to conclude, if hatton retires now then he will always be remembered as the guy who beat the great kostya tszyu...questionably and then retired without facing anyone else of significance.

i know you dont really like Hatton snakey cause he beat your man KT,but you are right in what you say it would be a mastake for Hatton to retire now he has to fight someother big names before he retires eg.Cotto ,PFB or even Castillo but not really sure Castillo deserves to have a big fight at the moment!

I do like hatton...in a way....well not much but hey lol ;D Yeah hes unproven, i know this is hard to believe brits but hatton didnt destroy kt, he beat him but in no way smashed him. So that win will not be enough to get him credit for the rest of his career. If he retires now, i can see it in the future what boxing analysts will say about him "Ricky Hatton, known for his win of boxing hall of famer Kostya Tszyu had the potential but in the end didnt fight the top fighters around in his era. There was cotto, mayweather, judah, castillo, margarito yet the only top fighter he beat was Tszyu" .

Yes and i dont believe ricky will retire. Ricky seems to be determined to mark his spot in boxing and by retiring he wont do that. He will stay but imo if he really wants to mark his spot in boxing history... he needs to fight floyd. He doesnt want to be in the game too long so hes gotta have a huge fight and win it.
