Afghanistan and the Taliban
F*ck me have they regrouped :o
My Brother in law is in southern Afghan Taliban territory and has been for 6 weeks and has maybe 3 months left.
He says it is fierce over there and has already had a run in with the Taliban....
5 of them in a Landrover got a call to say that they (Taliban) were in the area (apparantley 30 or so)
They went to turn round (sharpish) and there were around 80-90 of them, some with RPG's and all with Machine guns charging on horseback towards them.
They radioed for urgent assistance and the Paras were sent out with an apache gun ship that blew them to pieces with a gatlin cannon ??? or whatever they are....
He said you could see bits of horse flying up in the air etc and also said it scared the S*** out of him.
The other night his base was under attack and they had to dive into the basement area for a few hours.
As i understand it the Afghans have rarely lost a scrap and feel he's in for more of the same...
Mrs smash's (her Bro) face every time the news of another dead UK soldier comes on the news is not something i like to see every week or so.
He is getting me a genuine piece of Afghan desert rock with photo to prove it (preferably covered in taliban blood) so i can e-bay it just out of curiosity.
Anyone else got Family over there or Iraq..?
Re: Afghanistan and the Taliban

Re: Afghanistan and the Taliban
I lived in Kuwait for a while, so knew people involved in the 1991 war. Most have dies or moved on now so I am out of touch.
We used to go to Iraq every weekend cos you could drink there and it was a lot more civilised than the rest of the middle east.
On your other point - the last person to actually successfully conquer Afghanistan was Alexander the Great. Everyone else has suffered a bloody nose there.
I used to work with Afghan construction workers in Kuwait. Those are seriously tough people.

What is it those Jihadists say when they try to kill "the infidels"?
oh
HALLA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA!!!!!
I heard that textbooks in Saudi Arabia call Americans "swine"...good deal, I guess they can't eat us then
Re: Afghanistan and the Taliban
I thought the Americans kept boasting about how Afghanistan was stable etc.. It was NEVER stable outside of Kabul. How many more of these coalition soldiers need to be sent back in their body bags for them to leave? They should leave before Afghanistan becomes a graveyard for them like Iraq is.
Re: Afghanistan and the Taliban
Its another vietnam i tell you.
They can kill millions upon millions of militants but they will never kill their forces they grow and grow, for every jihadist that falls atleast 2 more join the cause.
They would have to nuke the country for it to be stable with foriegn soldiers in their country.
