My girlfriend hates this site.... Hates everything about boxing,,, Blasfimimer!!!!!!!!!!!! All U guys are my vein to boxing . My lifeforce.... She doesn't understand. None of my friends do either

Is Boxing that Bankrupt? I can honestly say I know 1 boxing fan(and he is a lack luster fan @ best) oof...... Tuff. This sport is a tough one to love but i always have an always will...... I willl always think of Jack Johnson, Rocky Marciano, Joe Louis, Jake Lamata, Arturo Gatti, Micky Ward, Marvin Hagler, Thomas Hearns........... I could go on fo days but those are the "first to come to mind" guys......... WE HAVE NONE OF THAT, NOW.... NO THROWBACKS. WE AHVE SCRAPERS @ BEST... *****SCOWEL***** >:mad WHERE R MY BROTHERS IN ARMS(NOT U GUYS... UR HERE!!!! ;) )

Yeah right on man! lol... Every time I talk to my friends about boxing they are like... what?... they only know mainstream boxers like DLH HOPKINS etc... But my dad does know alot. Boxing is the greatest sport ever man! Yet it is not very popular... But i look at it this way... wrestling is very popular and altough its fake they have a freaking PPV every saturday!!! I would never like boxing to reach that mainstream level!

what i dont understand is, and i have thought about it beofre posting is

you name, johnson, marciano, louis, lamotta, gatti, ward, hagler, hearns all boxers that have given us excitment over the years.

Yer agreed......i know two mates who like boxing.....1 of them likes it becuase he stays over here after we go clubs on saturdays and we catch the fights as there on at 4am over here. The other one just watched and cares about the bigger fights.

The key is to bring gambling into the picture =)
I know my coworkers pay a lot more attention to the fights and fighters when lunch is on the line ;)

I doot anybody else that is into boxing like I am. I have tried to talk boxing with a couple of people and they just dont have a clue about anything except the main stream guys. This place has been great for me to get my boxing fix. Then being able to intelligently "discuss" boxing with the people on this board has only helped me out.

The thing I hate is the Half ass fan the one that asks when ROy Jones and Floyd Mayweather are gonna fight????? or Talks about fights that never happened and recalls events in the wrong order...I am very particular about Boxing and Love to catch people when they say shit that nots true...I know I'm rambling on this one but The half ass Boxing Followers really piss me off

I think what happens is a lot of people see the S*** fights . You know the ones ,The fights that leave you wondering why you’re a fan . For instance lets say finally get some friends over to watch a fight .Friends that see just a few fights a year, and the fight turns out to be as exciting as the Calvin Brock -vs.- Timor Ibrigimov , Your friends now think boxing is sucks a** no talent ! The by product is nobody will watch the next fight , which turns out to be the reason we all are addicted to the sport . That what I think happens.

I didn't read the entire thread only your post, but I can tell you that most of us in here know what you mean, I don't think anyone in here knows a real hard cord fan other then ourselves....It is sad but the only thing I say we can do is push forward and promote the sports to people....I for example invite friends and family over on boxing nights as a boxing/poker night. We watch some fights then play poker..... Its gotten to the point now that friends & fam. call me to ask me if I'm gonna watch the fight...Which is cool and they'll ask questions and are interested in knowing whos who....

Oh!! yeah! and that is exactly why this place exsists.... ;)

Yeah I know what you guys mean. The guys I hate are the ones that suddenly becomes boxing genius' when a fight is on T.V. but no nothing about the sports top fighters or names

MM wife hated it in the beginning...but now she has warmed to it.
