I do believe him....Lacy is shook up after what Calzaghe done to him and he wants to blast a few has-beens or bums out before he steps up once again. Also i think lacy knows he woould struggle in light-heavy because his power advantage would be lost and thereby exposing him as a average boxer with a great physique
With both of them believing that they should be the top draw the argument would be who would get the lions share of the purse. Would you take 1.5 mil for a fight that could gate 7 or 8 leaving your opponent to clean up? There is no belt up for grabs, both of them got their butts whooped the last time they fought, they should split it.
That was a clever assessment... ::** Lacy has been calling out Tarver since before the Calzaghe fight and has been trying to get Tarver in the ring but Tarver was dragging his feet and kept coming up with more demands after previous ones had been met and holding up HBO and Showtime.....SO stop being a Biased ignorant Idiot...Quote:

Lacy has said that he would like to fight Green, but not in October.

The proposed super middleweight clash between former titlist Jeff Lacy and Allan Green is off, promoter Gary Shaw told ESPN.com.

"Jeff changed his mind and said he didn't want to fight the rest of this year," Shaw said. "He didn't tell me why."
Shaw had been negotiating the fight with Green promoter Tony Holden when he Lacy told him about his decision.
"I was working on it when Jeff told me, 'No fight,'" Shaw said.
Lacy told ESPN.com that he wants to fight Green, just not in October.
"It has nothing to do with me not wanting to fight Green," Lacy said. "I was under the understanding that I would fight in November on Showtime. When it was announced for October I was shocked. I am not going to rush myself to come back from a fight like I had with (Joe) Calzaghe."
The reason: Lacy (21-1, 17 KOs) said that since losing a lopsided decision to Calzaghe in their March 168-pound unification fight, he has put on a lot of weight. Lacy said he got up to 195 pounds, although he is now down to 185.
"I've gone up in weight and I wanted to have good three-month camp and take the weight off nice, and not rush," Lacy said. "I am not going to rush myself to have this fight in October. After the fight with Calzaghe I needed to re-charge. I took some time off and I was looking forward to fighting Green in November, but I am not ducking Green. I never have ducked anyone."
Lacy said he still wants to fight Green in November. Showtime has a Nov. 4 card that has not been filled yet.
"I would still want to do the fight in November, which is when I thought I had a date anyway," he said. "If we can go in November I am cool with it. If not, we can do it early next year."
The Lacy-Green fight would have opened an Oct. 7 Showtime telecast headlined by the rubber match between lightweight champion Diego Corrales and Joel Casamayor.
Shaw said he hoped to fill the open slot with a flyweight unification bout between Vic Darchinyan and Omar Narvaez, which was penciled in to open Showtime's Nov. 4 card. The fight is contingent upon Narvaez winning an Aug. 4 mandatory defense against Rexon Flores.
Green (21-0, 15 KOs) last week knocked out Season 1 "Contender" participant Anthony Bonsante in the fifth round on "Friday Night Fights."
I didn't think Tarver would be a good fight for Lacy as his first fight back. I'm not surprise
Smart move for Jeff, a long rest to recooperate physically and mentally after a grueling fight will do well for him in the long run especially if there are any confidence issues
Okay, so one guy who took the beating of his life against Calzaghe, is offered £1.5m to fight the guy who took the beating of his life against Hopkins. Is this the coulda-woulda-shoulda tournament for also rans?
i dont think lacy has a confidence problem...he's ultra confident.
now i know the reason why he didnt want to fight in october....good reason. its more to do with the fact he wants proper training for his next fight!
i hope he has worked on his defense and his footwork though.
