Just watched the Eurosport version of Roy Jones Ajamu.....
And I think I prefer listening to Larry Merchant's bullshit than whoever the jokers were who commentated on this.
A few examples.
The lead commentator starts reeling off a list of Roy Jones victims. He clearly is reading from a list and has no idea what he is talking about. After about four or five victims he comes to James Toney and Bernard Hopkins and sounds suprised as if he never even knew.
Then he calls his co-commentator mate :-\
Then in the most absurd discussion I have heard from a professional commentary team he asks 'Bob' if Roy Jones next opponenent should be Nicolai Valuev?
His co commentator replied, Valuev is 23 stone, twice the weight of Jones! No, just no.
Seriously who the F*** is this commentator and has he ever commentated on a boxing match before?
Re: Just watched the Eurosport version of Roy Jones Ajamu.....
So he sounded like
Virgil Hills, Montell Griffin(pronounced Gri-fan) Richard Hall... bernard Hopkins? (pause) James...Toney?

Hang on I'll quote it word for word.
He beat John Ruiz, Clinton Woods, Glen Kelly, Reggie Johnsonn, Otis Grant, Virgil Hill, Montel Griffin, then he beat MIKE McCALLUM (large sound of suprise) Thomas Tate! even more suprised, James Toney, and Bernard Hopkins, pronounced Bernerd as in Bernard Manning I kid you not ::**
Re: Just watched the Eurosport version of Roy Jones Ajamu.....
Oh and when the scores 119 - 109 was announced this dipshit said so one round against Roy Jones, 14 against Amaju! ::**
Re: Just watched the Eurosport version of Roy Jones Ajamu.....
easily one of the worst paperviews ever. How bout when they didnt even know who was fighting on the undercard and apoligized because one of the fighters was not the picture of the fighter that came out. Then you got that dude with the jerry curl mullet (one of the all-time worst combo's of haircuts). I also mentioned the horrible refereeing in another post.
Re: Just watched the Eurosport version of Roy Jones Ajamu.....
Steve Holdsworth. He's been around the block and knows his stuff, but he is an aquired taste. I quite like him, he tells it like it is for the most part.

Re: Just watched the Eurosport version of Roy Jones Ajamu.....

Re: Just watched the Eurosport version of Roy Jones Ajamu.....
Yeah i thought the same, sounded like a couple of amateurs, however it was free so i aint complaining!
Re: Just watched the Eurosport version of Roy Jones Ajamu.....
Steve Holdswoth is a very knowledgable but he can be negative with his comments.
Re: Just watched the Eurosport version of Roy Jones Ajamu.....
The Valuev stuff was hilarious ;D Holdsworth only mentioned him up so he could say "Valuev cant punch" - (he says it every week regardless of who's fighting) And Bob Mee was clearly reacting to the ridiculousness of it
I can understand people not liking Holdsworth though. He does go off on one at times. Although some of the shit he has to commentate on week in week out you cant blame him ;)

well yes, when we can all see the boxer is no good he gives the usual don't give up the day job, he's useless comments rather than sucking up to fighters/promoters.
