Khan unfazed by lack of power.
Amir Khan has admitted that he does not yet have the power to knock opponents clean out, but does not feel it is damaging his fledgling professional career. The 19-year-old has recorded six stoppages in his six pro bouts thus far, but has yet to record a knock-out.
Khan insists he is not fazed by the record and actually believes his lack of power could be doing the sport as a whole some good.
"That will come itself,” he said of his ability to knock out opponents. “I've hurt boxers, I've stopped six but I think it's more of a sting when I hit them.
"As I get older the power is going to develop and the strength is going to come more and more.
”Then I'll start putting boxers to sleep. I'm not concerned about it.
"I think it's brilliant I'm not knocking boxers out, it's good for boxing.
"It's not nice to see people sleeping, knocked out. I think the way I do it is just perfect. At the end of the day it's a sport."
Khan's next outing comes on September 2 in front of his home fans at the Bolton Arena, although his opponent has yet to be confirmed.
It looks certain to be his last fight over six rounds with a switch to eight-round contests now scheduled.
"Hopefully after one more six-round fight I'm going to move up to eight,” Khan continued.
”It will be different but I think I'm ready for it. I spar for six to eight rounds in training."

I already hate the guy and being forced to read his thoughts on everything from his long term career plans, his opinions on boxing legends, how he rates himself, his condemnation of Zidane's headbutting another player, to his views on the war in Iraq just infuriates me.
He's got no power now it will never come, all the great punchers were naturals, you can't manufacture power.

The only thing stopping amir kahn being a knockout puncher is his weight. He weighs roughly the same at the weigh in and the same on fight night as his opponents. Supposed KO artists like Miguel Cotto for example have a distinct weight advantage come fight night. Something like a 14-18lbs advantage. Thats their extra power right there. Amir has got plenty of time to grow into power, he's only 19 and he's stil growin.

i think you peeps are right i dont think khan is a knockout puncher n it may never come cos it doesnt seem he has that natural ability i think khan is trying to hard to be nas to be fair he'd have been seeing him in fights( when he wasnt inside obv!) n he tries to keep his hands low and be elusive and he started to get clocked so i duno bout the kid. i got a feeling hes goner be handfed looser oppononents for a fair while cos im not that fond of warren , whats ne1 think?

For the level he's at he hits plenty hard enough....I'm sure as he improves, matures and refines his style he'll hit even harder.

mmm maybe its his style cos he's elusive, cos the style which you throw can usually make it harder like if you throw a textbook perfect punch it can hurt most ppl, i notice that when khan tee's off hes just looking for the speed and the flurry mayb thats where he fails in the power section,cos hes pretty accurate for someone so green n thats prob why his fights are stoppages not knockouts cos its the accumulation of punches makin it so his opponents arent in there anymore. opinions ne1?

He's elusive against tomato cans, but I don't think Kevin Mitchell or Ricky Burns will find him nearly so hard to hit ;)

but i dont think mitchell or burns wil get put to fight khan cos warren's a wanker n handfeeds khan opponents he knows he can beat, wouldnt be suprised if warren slipped em somethin lol u know frank warren used to promote for lenny mclean!! like owned a underground unliscenced boxing commision!

khan doesnt need power hes outboxin and outpunchin his opponents its certainly not power that is droppin his opponents its speed if you dont see a punch comin u cant brace 4 it thats whats droppin his opponents, why is power important to be a successful boxer the greatest of all time didnt need to put his opponents to sleep did he? ali didnt nok his opponents out, neither does mayweather so you dont need power, it just helps.

thats one way to look at it maybe he doesnt need the power and hes stilll fresh from bieng an olympic amatuer so his boxing is technically sound, but im not too sure bout ali or mayweather not bieng power punchers.... cos i got this picture in my head of ali standing over liston and mayweather droppin corrales over n over.
