Yes they can, the way to do it is:
train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train and so on and so forth....
A lame answer, I know, but it is the only way.
play ping pong. if you can't hit the little white ball don't box. :-)

I met a Thai whore who could do the most amazing things with a ping pong ball, but I could land head punches on her all night, including telegraphed uppercuts.Quote:

To efficiently duck, roll and slip you need to understand timing and where your opponetents weight is and what his range is.
Just spar and it becomes instinct.
SPAR! ;)
For those of you who remember hall of fame baseball player Tony Gwynn, he used to work on his reflexes by hittng a board of lights. When the light went on, he'd hit the button.
it's all about timing and calmness....if you're tense you will eat punches all day because you will be stiff...if you are calm and look for body signs(tensing of muscles) this can help immensely. react to the movement instantly....if it is a fake make them pay for it...watch them hit the heavy bag and while sparring(you can pick up on someones tells)...but timing is huge as well as being relaxed. don't tense up!!!!!!!Quote:

Both. ;) you have to react and reflexes are the speed of your response, but it's nothing with out timing :) They had fast reflexes reading a punch... they knew it was going to be thrown almost before you did... :PQuote:

I played 3rd base in college baseball and had what many thought were cat-like reflexes. Luckily I was pretty quick through diligent practice but what made me quicker than I really was was the fact that I knew where the ball would be going before it was hit. Out of the corner of my left eye I could see the ball being thrown, and when looking at the batter and when he swung, copared to where the ball was I could tell if he was swinging early or late and thus if it was coing my way. That's why it's so important NOT to telegraph your punches and to pick up on the things the other guy is doing that tell you when he's going to punch.
ps, some useless info: what is really hard for a 3rd baseman was when a left-handed batter swings late and the ball come at you. You don't have the luxury of seing where he is in his swing. Thus the ball just comes at you "without warning." It's jsut bang. all you see is the thng coming at you when it's almost too late.
