Touch Sparring
Alright, when i get to boxing i do the warm up, abs etc. Then i do sparring with the best fighters in my club and then bags and circuits, skipping etc. But at the end i have to do touch sparring with the new kids. I am only aloud to either go defensive, sometimes flick out a jab or, jab-cross lightly. But they can throw anything as hard as they want! Some of the kids i spar against go mad, charge at me throwing every single punch under the sun. I can defend them generally, but some of the new 'kids' weight up to 13-14 stone, i weigh around 66kg (getting down to 63kg(10 stone)). If they hit me it could knock me out, but i still cant hit that hard back! Any advice on what to do... thanks.

Re: Touch Sparring
its a good thing man , you will work on ur defense and you'll work on how not to get hit.

Re: Touch Sparring
Unfortunatly you have to give them a clump, to remind them where they are. To touch spar takes skill and a bit of knowledge, of what youre about. Novices dont have it or the understanding of what its about, until theyve been hurt. Its okay if youre 2 stone heavier than them, then its acceptable you shouldnt get hurt, But when some hairy arse is trying to take your head of fuck it wack him let him have a bit of respect for you and self discapline. Anyway the coach should be watching and controling the spar and working on skills by explaining as you go then everybody is learning.

Re: Touch Sparring
We do loads of touch sparring in my gym, if the other lad takes the pass and uses force rather than skill putting a little weight behind a shot to the liver normally puts them back in their place. ;)
My coach is normally super tight on it, if some one clips you with a hard shot that can happen, correct technique and speed can often make it hard not to hit hard... if some one takes the place step it up if they are totally out of their class with you, they won't want none of it...
I always explain to the new lads you learn more boxing than you do fighting, there's a pub round the corner for that...
Only lad's wanting to compete/have competed etc get to do full contact boxing.
One things for sure, you won't learn a thing blowing inexperienced fighters out... ;)
