THERE SHOULD BE A REMATCH**
THIS IS AWFUL. I DONT KNOW WHICH FIGHT THE JUDGES WERE WATCHING!
THIS FIGHT WAS OBVIOUSLY A ROBBERY. PETERS WAS SOMINATED AND WAS EVEN DEDUCTED A POINT...COME ON GUYS NOW LETS BE FAIR, Toney won!
Before peters goes to fight for the title. why doesnt he have a rematch with Toney, i think he should. He lost clearly, this cr@p is messing up the sport.
Those of you's that said Toney was getting KTFO, EAT YOUR WAOOOOOORDS.
Toney clearly won.
I think there should be a rematch. I know the winner was suppost to fight Oleg Maskaev for the title. But After a decision like this I think a rematch makes lot of sense!!!
What do you lot think?

Sure there should be a rematch...the fight was close...but Toney did not dominate Peter.
Let's not forget that Peter gave as good as he got & hurt Toney several times.
That was a good fight & just because LORD TONEY didn't win doesn't make it a robbery.
One day...you gents are going to have to recognize & come to terms with the facts that Toney aint a heavyweight & he's already proven that he CAN'T save the division.

Nah, Toney proved he CAN take a better punch than the 250+ lb mighty Wladimir Klitschko. He's faced better comp, BEATEN better competition than anybody, and was royally SCREWED tonght. And I like both Peter and Toney, and was hopin Peter would humble James a little, not KO him, but drop him or somethin. He couldnt. James Won. James IS the absolute best HW in the world bar none. Everyone knows it.

The judges pretty much said he beat the snot of out Toney, lol

You don't pay attention to the margin? To me the margin represents the mindstate of the Judges more so than the overall decision. So a judge pretty much saying Peter won 8 or 9 rounds in a 12 round fight doesn't make you wonder what else he was thinking? Interesting

Well Jack Johnson back in your day you just knocked them out and didn't have to worry about the judges :) Who do you think won?
Here's what I think:
-Sam Peter landed the more powerful punches
-James Toney landed slightly more power punches
-James Toney landed more jabs as Sam left his right hand ignorantly low
-Sam came on stronger than I thought in the fight and made it closer
With all that being said James Toney won the "Boxing Match" and the fight.

Sam Peter's face was a puddle of mess. Overall, and again I said.. "overall" Toney did land many more punches and the only time that Peter "ever" was effective was when he landed a few big shots. Wacko doesn't know.

Just finished watching the fight again...It was close. Peter was strong down the stretch.
A Toney at 225 pounds would have been more elusive and would have taken Peter to school proper...
Still, thought Toney won by 2 rounds though...

A rematch in my opinion would make fighting to begin with a pointless endeaver. They fought an elimination match to see who fights Maskaev. If Toney and Peter fight again and Toney wins then what? They fight a third time and see who wins that? Pointless. By that time Toney would be older, covered in more blubber, and braindead. Maskaev sits around until then or loses the belt to someone else?
If the winner wasn't promised a with Maskaev they would not have fought in the first place. Toney lost and needs to find another row to hoe.
