On the heels of his victory over James Toney on Saturday night in Los Angeles, Samuel "The Nigerian Nightmare" Peter has his eyes set on WBC heavyweight champion Oleg Maskaev.

"We want Maskaev, now," said Dino Duva, Peter’s promoter. "I will be contacting Dennis Rappaport (Maskaev's promoter) to begin negotiations immediately. Maskaev was obligated by the WBC to fight Toney in his next bout after defeating Rahman. Now that Samuel beat Toney, we expect Oleg to honor that obligation to Sam. Sam is ready to fight Maskaev immediately, and fighting him for the WBC heavyweight title is the only thing on Sam's mind right now. We want to make this fight sometime before the end of the year."

Nice. It's good that the division is finally sorting itself out now. All the big guy's are finally fighting the big guys.

Peter will stop Maskaev brutally....Peter may very well shake some things up given the chance...

I want to know what Toney is planning to do, his camp seems awfully quiet...

Honestly I could care less about Peter he was given a gift and I'm still really pissed about Toney getting robbed.

I also would like to know whats going on with Toneys camp. All the current champs are already lined up to fight aren't they?

i didnt see his last fight but by what i heard from many people he was screwed so i hope he can win his next fight

I think Maskaev-Peter will be a brawl and honestly Oleg has a good shot at winning...anyone who can BOX has a good shot at beating Sam.

HOWEVER

I see Sam stopping him late, maybe 6-8

Disagree. Toney didn't even outbox Peter all night. Everyone's acting like Peter didn't land anything & that he wasn't a better boxer this go around than his last outtings.

The youngin has improved.

Agreed.

I can see either man wining this fight tbh. I will lean towards Sam by KO though.

To me this seems a pretty easy pick to make, both guys are there to be hit, maybe Sam more than Maskaev but Sam's stronger and has a sturdier chin. I feel pretty confident in picking Sam to catch up to him and take him out probably before 6 rounds.

Maskaev is older but he's a tough bastard...he's not going to outbox Sam he's going to have to go for the kill and maybe he'll get it...you never know, Wlad rocked Sam, Oleg KO'd Rahman TWICE...it's not a done deal Sam will win
