woods says witter cant hang with hatton

When UK junior welterweight Junior Witter and American DeMarcus "Chop Chop" Corley clash for the vacant WBC junior welterweight title on 9/15, at Alexandra Palace, London, current IBF light heavyweight champion Clinton Woods will be cheering him on.
"The WBC is a proper belt and I want Junior to win it because he's English, as much as anything else. He'll have to put the effort in, though. sometimes Junior just does enough to win, but he'll need to pull out the stops this time. Junior can look his best against the better opponents, and Ihope Sheffield will have another world champion by the end of Friday night," Woods said.
On the other hand, Woods, feels that Witter is not capable of hanging with the skill level of his UK rival, unbeaten Ricky Hatton.
"In the past, I always thought Witter would beat him, but when you look as some of Hatton's last few performances I can't see Junior living with him" said Woods

chances are his just said this as he and hatton share the same promoter and he may well have been told to say it but to be fair to him i always did think that hatton would beat witter but after the collazo fight im not so sure witter is a long range fighter like collazo he can fight as a southpaw and may give ricky some problems

If Witter can't hang with Hatton why didn't Hatton take the fight when he was fighting in the UK.
The fans wanted it. The fight was there to be made.
Witter could of handled any of Hattons opponents and probably would have done a better job on Collazo

Im led to believe Hatton didnt take the fight due to the fact he wanted Witter to bring something to the table. He also felt Witter didnt deserve the pay day he would have earned.
Although at one point when Hatton signed one of his contracts with Warren he stipulated that he must fight Witter at some point, but due to Witters mouth and huge pay demands Warren cast him out and washed his hands with him.
Now if Witter manages to beat Corley, then a fight may happen.
IMO Witter gets ko'ed by Collazo, or he does a 'Lord of the Dance' and runs all night ala Zab Judah fight.
 ;)

Ive always said that Witter wins the first four rounds tops against Hatton and then gets owned. I havent seen anything lately from either party to suggest otherwise.
Emma's a twat ;D

 Tszyu?
The best fighter Witter has beaten is N'dou. His last two fights he's been piss poor and scraped over the line.
Hopefully IF he can beat Corley they can sort the Hatton fight out. I think Hattons in a different league and would batter him, but we'll never know if he doesn't fight him.

i've said it before, and i'll say it again, Hatton is good, but not that good, he is VERY beatable, Cotto would blast him out in 9

 Everyones beatable
Witter would have more chance against Cotto than Hatton
What with his speed advantage, awkwardness and punching power (overrated) I could see him bombing Cotto out in 1.

I agree i think Hatton would stop Witter.

then you're full of shit, Power overated? he's a far harder puncher than Hatton, he has broken both of his last opponants jaws, and fractured one of their arms, how many times do you hear about a fractured arm in boxing, not too often, Cotto better all around skill, and better speed than Hatton, Ricky sure could take it upstairs, but after his last fight, i know, not i think, i know that if Cotto takes it to Hatton's body early, he'll beat him worse that Collazo already did, and Witter/Cotto to me anyways, is a toss up, all i know is that either one of them would beat Hatton and ugly

No I'm talking about Witter beating Cotto. I meant Witters power is overrated. But he still has plenty enough to knock Cotto out - probably in 1 cause he'll catch Cotto cold.
Hatton would most probably take about 5/6 rounds to batter Cotto If he (Hatton) was out of form
If he was in form
2/3 rounds.
Still we'll never know unless they fight. Maybe you're right.
