Mikkel Kessler vs Markus Beyer
To Be Shown In America By HBO
For immediate release
Bettina Palle is pleased to announce that Home Box Office, the American cable network which is considered the world leader in championship boxing events, will televise the Mikkel Kessler-Markus Beyer WBA-WBC super middleweight championship bout from Copenhagen on October 14.
Ms. Palle, whose company International Entertainment ApS of Denmark, is the promoter of the gala boxing show at Parken Stadium, said that HBO would show Kessler vs. Beyer on a same night delayed basis.
"This is a great showcase for both world champions, Kessler and Beyer," Ms. Palle said.
"HBO will show their bout after it shows the super middleweight title bout from England between champion Joe Calzaghe and Sakio Bika. So the HBO commentators and the American boxing fans will have a great chance to see all three champions in action and make their own comparisons.
We are delighted to be working with such a great boxing network because HBO is really the home of world championship boxing.'
Ms. Palle said she expects Kessler-Beyer to be a highly competitive fight and that the HBO airing of it is a classic opportunity for the undfeated WBA champ, Kessler.
"We have wanted so long for Mikkel to be seen by the American public and now it will be a reality," Ms. Palle said.
"Now it is up to Mikkel to defeat Beyer and to look great doing so. If he does, I am sure the American fans and HBO will want to see Kessler again."
Ms. Palle's legendary father, Mogens Palle, said he wanted to thank HBO's key executives for deciding to showcase Kessler right alongside Calzaghe.
"I really want to say that Kery Davis, Ross Greenburg and Luis Barragan are giving Kesser a golden chance to show his considerable skills. There are many U.S. TV networks who show boxing but, when you start out on HBO, you are starting at the top. Now it's all up to Mikkel Kessler."

Re: Kessler, Beyer, Markussen, Jobby and Bute
In all truth-itude...I love Kessler & have high hopes for the gent.
I really really wanted to see him fight Joppy though. That fight was supposedly on a while back...or atleast in talks...& now Jopp's fighting Markussen?
Good enough I reckon. Curious to see how many runs around the tracks the old horse has left in him.

Hey wacko, I've only seen one Kessler fight in full and that was against Mundine. Have to say I was impressed especially seeing as he went over to Mundine's back yard to fight him. To be fair though he probab;y knew that as most Aussies hate Mundine with a passion that he would probably have 50% of the crowd with him anyway ;D
But seriously Mundine is a slick boxer. He boxed rings around Danny Green which leads us to Beyer.
The only two Beyer fight's I've seen have been against Green. The first fight he got beaten up so bad that it would have been all over for Beyer if the German officials hadn't found a way to disqualify Green and save their man on a technicality. I don't know if you've seen that fight but Green was serving up Beyer's ass to him big time.
The rematch I and probably everybody else expected Green to kill Beyer but Beyer boxed really well and took a deserving victory. But and it's a big but, when Green finally did open up in the last round he floored and nearly finished Beyer.
I really don't see anything special in Beyer at all. He's smart and got heart but he doesn't seem to have a big punch and I'm not sure how well he can take one.
I think Kessler will no doubt be a huge favourite especially as he's the home fighter but, and it kind of sickens to me be in support of a German :puke: but Beyer is such an underdog that I want him to prove everyone wrong.
I really doubt he can but maybe just maybe if he fights a perfect fight like he did against Green the second time he may just be able to frustrate Kessler and edge a close decision.
It's unlikely but I'd like to see him do it becuase he probably gets the least respect out of any world champion fighting right now.
Re: Kessler, Beyer, Markussen, Jobby and Bute
I'm pulling for Beyer out of patriotic reasons...,don't see him win(he most probably will be knocked out),
but like Bilbo said there is a slight chance for Beyer(to shut up Royal... ;) ) to win...
And Bilbo, please stop :puke: on Germans... ;D
Re: Kessler, Beyer, Markussen, Jobby and Bute
William Joppy is still fighting ???
And at 168 ???
What a great idea
