Did a clash of styles gloss over the cracks?

Witter Corley never looked like catching fire. Neither man wanted to give an inch which IMO resulted in a dour affair. But did the clash of styles gloss over the cracks in Witters game? were his previous two efforts (Lynes and Kotelnik) the result of motivation or is Witter not the force he claims to be?

Witter could hurt Corley, but Corley couldn't hurt Witter, that was pretty evident. Yet despite holding those two aces Witter only really went for it in round five when Corley was buzzed for a second, Witter made an untidy job of going for the kill too.

Rather than go on and on I'll just ask a question.....

...Did Witter do a professional job against a cagey opponent, or was he as lackluster as he has been of late, Corley just didn't do enough to find out otherwise?

I think Witter, ESPECIALLY after the Judah fight should have stayed at the tip top in competition...Corley was an OK fight to take but where are the big boys???

I was expecting a fight like that...Witter did a good job but Corley was disappointing and yeah Witter showed he belongs with the top boys in the division

Problem for Witter against the top boys though, is he doesn't throw enough punches. Will they let him fight at his own pace? No chance. Will he have time to pose and ponce about with the "fencer" stance? No way. So how does he beat them/him? Landing one of those lunging haymakers? Reckon he needs much more than that to stand a chance.

Witter will have problems once he is forced on to the back foot. Witter likes to control the fight and dictacte the pace, as evident against Corley, who in my eyes just didnt want it enough ! Witter went out to get an early lead on the cards and then just done enough to win the rounds that were left. Against the likes of Hatton, Catillo he wont have it all his own way, which could lead him to throwing haymakers and become ragged. I see any fight he has with a pressure fighter going down a similar route to the Naz v Barrera fight, he simply gets bullied out of it.

Witter still sticks his chin up in the air when he pulls back and Corley & their corner didn't have the right tactics IMO.

Hi Matty, with a smarter more patient fighter I'd agree, if Witter like many of the Ingle figthers like to counter you have to stick to your plan of making them lead and back off everytime they attack. Make a counterpuncher lead, boxing 101. :)

I think Witter v's Hatton will be a great fight. With their contrasting styles it would make for good viewing. Witter would be forced to fight for the whole 3 mins of every round because Hatton is relentless in coming forward which I don't think he has the stamina for. :)

Agreed, Hatton wins in the 7/8th ;)

Witter beats hatton he's a switch hitter has hatton ever fought an ambidextrous opponent? no but he sure suffered with a south paw which witter can master.

Witter upsets hatton because hatton relies on forcing an opponent onto the weaker side of there game with his pace and placement.

I swear, I see witter winning a hard fought contest give him the credit he deserves he is a great and very awkward fighter.

He's just boring to watch.
