The Mayweather Myth

People say he has everthing a boxer can posess. Well one thing he lacks is power. Hes he stopped Mitchell, Gatti, Coralles, and Corley, but all these fighters have had issues with there chins well before they fought him agaist far lesser opponents. The problem is i dont think he has the power to keep a true welterweight off him. Baldomir will have to walk thought his fast punches to land his harder shots. I think Mayweather knows he cant crack so i expect him to try and fight like Leonard did Duran the second time and this will not be a good fight for Mayweather to make more fans.

Well i think pbf has more power than people think. You don't stop 24 professionals without any power. I also believe that you don't see the power because he doesn't fight a power fight he fights a speed fight. He doesn't load up on punches cause hes trying to get it there as fast as possibly. if he sat down on his punches more he would probably have more kos.
As far a baldy goes i don't think power matters. This will be a skill fight. Even though zab lost he was tagging him easy in the first half. Floyd will catch even more and he won't lose focus. Plus i don't think baldy is gonna be able to hit him with anything effective. Gatti was doin a good job of avoiding his punches in the first half. If the defenseless gatti can do that what do you think floyd will do. I think baldy is just too slow.

Yea 24 Ko's out of 36 fights you are right he has no power ::** Yes Floyd dosent load up and possess 1 punch KO power...I absolutely agree with you, but Floyd is an accumalative puncher who's speed and accuracy demoralizes and punishes the absolute Piss out of his opponents, so there is no Myth about his laser like shots that dissect his opponents and pound them into submission until they fall or there corner bails them out by throwing in the towel.

Let me ask you an honest Question Would you rather have me punch you in the face and have you be Knocked out for a few minutes?? or would you like to be repeatedly stung by a swarm of angry bee's for 6,8,10,12 rounds

Just cause he isin't you prototypical KO artist dosent mean his power is a Myth... He is the Complete Package of Speed, Power, Skills, Smarts, Defense, Poise and Maturity in the ring.. He is like Boxings Ultimate Predator

The Kid has it all...

Yup, he might not be among the most powerful punchers today but he's among the more, if not the most, well-balanced package of fighters. As long as he gets his job done, I guess it doesn't matter much. But of course, it would have been much better if he had a bigger punch, he'd be an undisputed top P4P then, and would've taken on Margarito any time, IMO.

Honestly, if it was you... Id rather take your best shot ;D But I can't say I'd rather take Hearns right hand then have Floyd beat on me for any amount of time. Not that I could stand up to it but hypothetically being KO'ed is always the worst, Floyd does have accumulative pop in his punches but he isn't a power puncher who can badly hurt anyone at welter. Id be shocked if Baldomir didn't last the distance honestly.

The only reason is if you move up in weight and fight stronger opponents ;D

I' am honestly looking forward to his next fight more than I was for Judah and Gatti!! I expected to hear booing from the croud against Judah and Gatti was always going to get his clock cleaned.

Just because a person does not wind up and try just one knock out punch doesn't mean he doesn't have power. It's not how Mayweather fights, he's a smart fighter. He picks his spots and defends.

why would he fight margarito (who was recently beat by santos) instead of the linear welterweight champion baldomir (who has done more in the last year than margarito has done in his whole career) for the same money?

you can sit there and argue about gatti and judah being shot, but both of them are better than anyone margarito has ever stepped in the ring with, let alone lost to.

how long has it been since margarito lost?

and as far as the challenge issued saying that margarito gets the winner of mayweather/judah, i hope youre not an oscar delahoya fan because in case you forgot, he said recently that if he ever fought again, it would be mayweather.

then i see you on some other thread giving oscar all the praise in the world for trying to call trinidad out of retirement instead of fighting mayweather ::**

sometimes in the sport, an opprutunity is presented, then something better comes along ;)

I don't hack him for fighting Baldomir. I hack him for having the oppourtunity to fight a TRUE welter. whom at least is ranked among the best in that div. and not just recently cuz hes been at top for a minute now.

i know we went about this before, and right after we did it was confirmed

the judah fight was ALREADY SIGNED before judah fought baldomir......

shortly after we had this debate (where you said it was impossible, or something) somebody (i think wacko) posted an article about baldomir where baldomir said that pbf was underestimating him by having the judah fight signed BEFORE judah fought baldomir.....

im pretty sure it was wacko who posted it, ask him about it, it wasnt too long ago.
ill look in the meantime

trust me mick, that fight was a done deal before judah fought baldomir...
