Re: Nigel Benn-Iran Barkley
3 knockdown rule screwed The Blade!
Re: Nigel Benn-Iran Barkley
Both knew the rules so it was still fair, with Benns chin it could so easily have been him, with Benn before watson especialy it was do or die, if Barkley had held or moved for the rest of the round he would have gotten out of it but Nigel was relentless and punched hard in to the last round, so it would have only been a matter of time for the Blade.
This fight proves Benns and Eubanks worth over Toney because Toney repeatedly states that iran gave him his hardest fight after Benn fought him.

???
Toney may state that but Barkley didn't even COME CLOSE to winning a round against him, total domination. Unlike Nunn, Johnson, Griffin, obviously Jones Jr., Jirov, fuck even Tiberi. Barkley had a better chance of beating Benn than he did Toney, he at least hurt Benn and had him in trouble for a good 30 seconds wheras he barely even touched Toney. And Eubank didn't even fight Barkley so that makes no sense, unless you're saying that because Eubank beat Benn who beat Barkley in one round whearas Toney took 10 one sided rounds to beat Barkley makes Eubank better than Toney. In that case, well....that's a bit of an odd argument.
Re: Nigel Benn-Iran Barkley
Yeah Benn batters barkley in a round and after Benn sofftened him up Toney struggled ;D
Eubank battered Benn then did what he had to in the next job done.
Toney always says that Barkley was the toughest fighter he faced well Benn beat him inside a round ::**

Toney struggled? You obviously haven't seen the fight. Check it out sometime.
I don't care if you think Benn and Eubank are better than Toney, everybody's got opinions, but to say that PROVES they're better is odd. If that one fight proves anything, it proves that Benn had better one punch power than Toney, that's good for Benn unfortunately Toney had much better skills and a better chin. And a much better career overall.
Toney's not gonna give anybody credit that actually beat him cause he's ridiculously proud, you think he's gonna give Roy Jones the credit of saying that was his toughest fight ??? Of course not he's gonna say Roy ran like a bitch. Roy pretty much shutout Toney, Nunn won the first 7 rounds, and Griffin beat him at least once. Jirov was a much closer fight as well, just about anything would be a closer fight than a shutout. Barkley did not even come close to winning a round. Not close, seriously check the fight out.
And once again, the Eubank argument is pointless, he didn't even fight Barkley.

Neither Eubank, Benn or Collins fought Toney

Yeah Toney struggled. He struggled not to get bored because Barkley couldn't land a glove on him. He probably even told him "Come on man..just let me land a jab.. please?"
Barkley got beat down by Toney and didnt lay a glove on him ;) Just because Benn won via a first round TKO doesn't mean it was a better performance. Sure Benn went toe to toe, he was also almost knocked out. Toney wasn't even close to that. Sure Benn may have looked exciting but he was almost beaten. Toney wasn't. So whats your point?
That's like saying that Corrales could beat Mayweather because he stopped Castillo and Mayweather couldn't. But when they fought what happened? Expect the same if Toney and Benn ever fought.

Benn would rip Blade Barkley

Re: Nigel Benn-Iran Barkley
Yeah and Benn proved that the Britts have more heart (by Britts I mean Benn and Eubank) by going in with the most feared fighter of his day and taking a shelacking but having too much bottle for the bully McClellan and coming out on top.
Eubank put Benn in his place but Gerald couldnt, the argument that the ref gave Benn a long count or whatever is stupid because that was in the first round, so Gerald had a weakened fighter for the rest of the fight but couldnt muster up the same power as Eubank

The Britts have more heart than who?
Nobody's denying Benn's got heart, I like Benn but you're comment about Benn and Eubank proving that they were better than Toney because of the Barkley fight makes no sense. That's what I was arguing about, I wasn't arguing about Benn's heart or the McClellan fight.
Re: Nigel Benn-Iran Barkley
Sorry ouma fan, I cant argue with anything you have said its just ted the bull with his comment about the 3 knockdown rule, as if it were invented to ruin Irans career

ok we have nothing to argue about then, I never said anything about the three knockdown rule, rules are rules. I think Barkley could have continued if there had been no three knockdown rule, but I do think Benn would have ended up winning cause although Barkley hurt Benn, Benn was hurting him worse, just more solid on his feet.
For people that haven't seen it

I just love the wya you disregard the fact that, that was Geralds first fight at Super Middleweight. Fighting someone like Benn. So you shouldn't try to compare Eubank and McClennan like that.
