Ha..now Tarver wants to fight Maskaev

Sources close to the The Philadelphia Boxing Report, have told us that Golden Boy promotions have made contact with Dennis Rappaport, WBC Heavyweight Champion Oleg Maskaev’s promoter.

Rappaport would not elaborate on the particulars of the call, only to say that Golden Boy, as well as representatives of the Antonio Tarver camp, have both made initial contact about the possibility of fight with Maskaev.

Rappaport told us that, “a June fight is out of the question, which is what I think they wanted. We have many people calling us, and we many options. We want to do what is best for boxing and Oleg.”

Bernard Hopkins will be a guest on The Philadelphia Boxing Report on Saturday Oct 7th at 10:00am Est. We will put the question to him there. As for Tarver, Rappaport confirmed that Tarver’s people are very interested in a Tarver meeting Maskaev down the road. Rappaport did not sound as enthusiastic about that though.

Just Hopkins with Golden Boy promotions, he's in charge of their east coast operations

Tarver's not with them, I don't know who his promoter is but its not Oscar

If Tarver had beaten Hopkins the idea of the fight might seem interesting. But how is Tarver supposed to be competitive with Maskaev when he isn't competitive with a 41 year old former middleweight?

Tarver's path is unclear at the moment, i personally think he should of gone for Clinton Woods as he is the IBF champ...He'd probably lose to Maskaev

Tarver can't avoid straight rights and he expects to beat Maskaev when he gets hit with one?

The thing about Maskaev is you watch him on T.V and think, Yeah i can beat that guy, but its different inside the ring. Oleg is somewhat lethargic , but when he connects he can spin the top ! Tarver need not apply . no intrest in that fight. no intrest in Tarver unfortunately.

Pretty soon Mayweather will want to fight Maskaev too. ;D

Not out of the question. And James Toney wants to get down in weight and fight Jermain Taylor for his middleweight crown.

Oleg isn't a good choice for Tarver. Hopkins should fight him then Tarver should fight another Heavyweight Champ that is a more probable victim then they can get together again to unify. Only if they win of course.
