Joe Calzaghe Q & A - Kess #2 in the world!
Well, from the fightnews website.... http://www.fightnews.com/1291.htm
Calzaghe in this article says that it is his belief that Kessler is the second best Super-Middleweight in the world. Probably a good call, and he did speculate about a fight between them which from my POV is a great thing. He needs to prove himself against the best opposition in the division, and the winner of Kessler/Beyer will be that person. I've never actually seen a post from the artist formerly known as Royal, but I expect jangeorg has an opinion on what Calzaghe has said.
Calzaghe also says that he is not looking beyond Bika, but that must be the hardest thig to do, Calzaghe could beat him at 50% of his usual self. He also speaks of the obstruction to the fight being that Kess wants to fight in Denmark and Calzaghe wants to fight in Britain. Hopefully that can be ironed out after Oct 14th, and this division unifier can be made!

:coolclick: for the read.
Joe's a damned fine fighter & an even better human being.
Can't wait to see him fight again & I was happy to hear the positive things he said about his competition.
I just hope that he doesn't under estimate Bika.
I hate upsets.

Amen brother, cause I'm actually putting my mortgage, my tv and my car on Calzaghe winning to make a few $$$'s, so if he loses i will not only be gutted, i will be broke, homeless and unable to travel. ;)
Re: Joe Calzaghe Q & A - Kess #2 in the world!
....I hope Calzaghe gets Kessler and I hope he beats Mikkel into a bloody mess!
Then I hope Lacy and Green do the same thing!
Re: Joe Calzaghe Q & A - Kess #2 in the world!
Calzaghe's the best super middle in the world and has been on top for yrs. i did think lacy could knock him out if he landed with a hard shot but joe's performance that night was awsome. theres romours of a fight with hopkins or roy jones but if either one of these great OLD fighters steps in the ring with joe they will get beat. i hope joe can get past bika and not underestimate him, because i don't realy like massive upsets, after anouther win he will be matched for a super fight with maybe even jermain taylor or winky wright. i think calzaghes the best fighter in middle and super middle and can get past both of these big names.

I honestly have a big feeling these fights will never happen, how are the going to happen? He is fighting Bika after a MASSIVE win over Lacy, but he hasn't jumped at the oppurtunity he had with this exposure in the States, and now he is fighting Bika?? I think that Calzaghe will have to travel to the States for any of the big boys, and from the way i was reading his interview thats the last thing he wants to do, a great finish to his career would be Kessler, Winky and Taylor ( Would love Hopkins but if he did come back i feel there are bigger $$$ fights out there for him like RJJ) Hope im wrong but i doubt it.
Re: Joe Calzaghe Q & A - Kess #2 in the world!
yeh thats rights. what a great performance for joe against lacy and hopefully better and bigger fights to come.

I don't see why the Calzaghe Vs Kessler fight couldn't be in the U.S - it'd be great for both fighters to showcase their talents infront of American boxing fans & surely Calzaghe would love to say he bowed out headlining at the Garden or Caesers Palace??
Atleast then you'd have a nutral ground and no squabbling over hometown decisions. I suppose you've got the issue of fans not being able to travel and possibly not being able to sell the fight in the U.S but I think it would get a bigger crowd than Hatton Vs Collazo which was around 7,000 I think.
I'm speaking to American boxing fans here but would they turn out to watch two foreign champions or would they only make the effort for U.S, mexican fighters?

It's a fight that could fill a stadium in Denmark and probably in the UK as well. So no need to go to the US to get an audience. Also if the fight happened in the US it would be early morning in Europe. Thus completely killing off the european ppv-marked. Better to just show it delayed in the US. With both fighters having their core following in Europe it would be stupid to risk losing it. Added US sales simply wouldn't make up for the loses in europe.

Yeah...but look at the last Calzaghefight and the upcoming one. The last one was at 2am because of American TV coverage and it seems likely to me that we will be seeing the Bika fight at American time as well just so that HBO viewers can have it at a convenient time....sod all the British fans who hve to stay up late. I think as it is between two europeans for domination of the SMW division, it would just make no sense at all to have the fight in the states. You'd be pissing off both sets of fans, who have to shell out the moolah to travel, and especially the states which is so far away and even more expensive. But equally, it would be a neutral destination....
