My computer has a deadly virus.... HELP!

K, my bro installed a internet Secruity program to try and block bad programs and stuff but there are too many....there are tonnes of trojans and shit on here and im having great difficulty even coming on the internet..i was thinking of reinstalling windows but i dont know how too..

What do i do? help pls

First, let me ask you this. What internet security program did your brother install?

Side note: (IMO) I would definately do a full reformat and start a fresh.

To reistall windows, you have to have a windows OS installation disk.
U-Torrent has some nice pirate version of XP Pro :)
The only draw back to this is, they may not have all the needed drivers for your computer and you will have to find them on your own and re-install them.

The most important thing after a full format is to install a firewall, antivirus and Ewido

My personal Prefreces
Outpost firewall <----Very Important
NOD32 Antivirus <---- Also very important. Not perfect but high rating and low bloat make it ok for me.
Ewido AntiTrojan <----- I don't rely on this much but it has been usefull in the past.

Another recomendation is stop using Internet Explorer. Opera and Firefox are more secure.
I depend on Windows because I do a lot of graphics but I can see myself switching to MAC and also running a Linux box in the future. I am still tied to windows but I know how to protect my investment :)

I don't know what else to tell you other than you sound like a total n00b and all of this is going to take time to learn.

I wish I could teach you what I know but that would take a long time :(

I've had to reload windows 4 times since I got highspeed. With dial up I had time to react, but things happen so fast now...


I dumped AOL and things are better so far...
