World featherweight boxing champion Scott Harrison is being held in a Spanish jail, the Foreign Office has revealed.
The 29-year-old WBO title holder, from Cambuslang, near Glasgow, was arrested in Malaga on 6 October.
His arrest reportedly followed allegations of theft and assault.
The boxer, who has received treatment for depression and alcoholism, had been training in southern Spain ahead of a title defence in December.
A Foreign Office spokesman said Harrison had refused consular assistance.
His UK lawyer Massimo Franchi said he had no knowledge of the arrest.
Last month Harrison announced he would stay out of Scotland while preparing for the fight against former European champion Nicky Cook.
In September the boxer was charged with six offences, including assault and fraud, following incidents in South Lanarkshire during the summer.
Probably not the preparation his trainer had in mind when they decided to train in Spain methinks :P

I don't know, I don't hope that bad things come to the guy but he's always seemed like a bit of an arrogant prick to me. Maybe not, I don't know.

Yeah its about time we forgot about Scot and moved on . Hes messed everyone around for too long now so f*k him . I never rated him to begin with so we arent missing out on much anyway . Marquez is leagues above him so that fight would have been a stroll in the park for the Mexican
