How much more does Pride usually pay?
WTF is up with Franklin getting 21, 000? Silva got 50. Didn't you say something how he gets a low salary but gets endorsement money. Even so that's still a very low salary considering Matt Hughes got 130 thousand.
Yeah....he agreed to get low pay in exchange for them pimping him out and making him a star (which would make him more money in the long run presumably).
Do note, though, that this doesn't include win bonuses (usually double pay for undercard fights, and an extra 15-50 thousand for the rest, depending on the inital pay the fighter gets[more initial pay=larger win bonus]).
And nobody really knows how much Pride pays their fighters. There was a rumor that some fighters made like up to 4 million for a fight, but the largest confirmed payout that I know of was 1 million for I think Fedor to fight on the New Years Eve card. Interestingly enough, I'm pretty sure that the TV station paid his salary for the event, not Pride
And here for comparison's sake...
Pride REAL DEAL Payouts:
- Robbie Lawler $50,000
- Joey Villasenor $35,000
- Kazuhiro Nakamura $105,000
- Travis Galbraith $10,000
- Phil Baroni $97,000
- Yosuke Nishijima $25,000
- Dan Henderson $125,000
- Vitor Belfort $75,000
- Eric Esch $50,000
- Sean O'Haire $15,000
- Josh Barnett $125,000
- Pawel Nastula $40,000
-Mauricio Rua $130,000
-Kevin Randleman $60,000
- Fedor Emelianenko $1,070,000
-Mark Coleman $82,000
UFC 64 Payouts (Which, to be fair, is an especially low paying show):
-Anderson Silva: $50,000
-Sean Sherk: $22,000
-Rich Franklin: $21,000
-Kenny Florian: $8,000
-Cheick Kongo: $20,000
-Jon Fitch: $20,000
-Spencer Fisher: $20,000
-Kuniyoshi Hironaka: $6,000
-Carmelo Marrero: $6,000
-Dan Lauzon: $3,000
-Yushin Okami: $12,000
-Clay Guida: $6,000
-Kalib Starnes: $5,000
-Kurt Pellegrino: $4,000
-Junior Assuncao: $3,000
-Justin James: $3,000
The real shocker?
Disclosed Fighter Payroll for the ENTIRE UFC 64 Card: $209,000
Fedor Emelianenko's Payout for a fight against a guy who's barely a contender: $1,070,000
Yikes....Fedor made over 5 times as much for his fight against MARK COLEMAN as the ENTIRE UFC 64 CARD. NOT a good sign for the UFC
That's why Tito Ortiz initially quit the UFC (obviously later cameback). Dana White, the president of the UFC is a prick. If you dont believe me what him on the ultimate fighter. It's crazy with how successful UFC has become the fighters dont get more $, but most of them wouldn't be doing ANYTHING if it werent for the UFC so they will take what they can get.
Yeah...that's pretty much the long and short of it.
Dana is a friggin prick, but an EXCELLENT businessman.
UFC pays their fighters peanuts, but its better than the dirt they get paid in all the other American orgs.
Hopefully, with Pride coming to America, UFC is going to be forced to start paying their fighters better or risk losing their stars to Pride a LOT more readily.
wacky...just saw this on mmaweekly.com

Looks a bit different from the previously released payroll. This one doesn't include bonuses, but I doubt that Fedor made a 900,000 dollar win bonus :P It also doesn't include PPV % and whatnot, so who knows.
