For UK members: Herol 'Bomber' Graham documentary
BBC Four, Mon 23 Oct, 23:15-00:15 60mins
BBC Four, Tue 24 Oct, 02:35-03:35 60mins
It's been on about four times in the last four days already. It's called 40 Minutes On, looking back at a 40-minute docu made in 1981 called 'Bomber and Brendan' and then catching up with Herol and Ingle 25 years later. Check it out.
Re: For UK members: Herol 'Bomber' Graham documentary
People first heard of Herol when he flew off to Holland at 17 as a late substitute and came home with a gold medal! It was some sort of Multi Nations, nobody expected him to do anything over there (he was very much free-style the way he boxed!) but apparently he really shined.. Brendan Ingle took him on soon after and kind of fine-tuned Bomber's style to his own liking. Apparently Bomber had never really had a proper trainer before Brendan and just did as he pleased!
Re: For UK members: Herol 'Bomber' Graham documentary
Bomber came across as a really nice bloke in both threads (25 years apart)

Excellent program, Herol is a great guy, a credit to himself, but seems to have issues.

watched it. very interesting programmes. was also good to see after the 15 year rift that they were able to patch things up and move on.
should of been a world champion and why tony sibson had 2 cracks at the title before herol got one I will never know. prob cause he was too good for his own good.

As Joe Frazier said to Marvin Hagler at the very beginning of the Marvelous One's career:
"Kid, you got three strikes against you before you've even started; you're a southpaw, you're black, and you're good"
