how can i use this?
hard hits? soft hits?
help?
like i said im going to the boxing gym, but now i really dont know anything, and i want to get some pratice from now till then
Re: how to use a stationary bag?
Just punch it.
Is it weighted at the bottom??
Always lead with the jab, move around the bag. Never stay stationary. Try numerous punches etc.
Re: how to use a stationary bag?
i dont know what you mean by weighted
but it has i think 10 or 15 gallons of water in it...
i know jab and punch, but is there anything else i can do?
i mean it doesnt sway, so its like a stationary padded opponent, which kinda sucks IMO
Re: how to use a stationary bag?
Yeah the water in the bottom acts as a weight.
Anyways, just use it like a normal punchbag. Hit it, move around it. Think about your defense and footwork. Just have a little go for now, and good luck when you start boxing, they will show you more.

Re: how to use a stationary bag?
You want my honest advice on what to do with those things? :-\
Bin it... ;)
Ross Enamait had one and posted an article on it over on his site... he had to fill the base with compacted concrete to get it heavy enough to even be usable.
I'd get a real bag, if you can't hang it up you can buy stands which fit in the corner of a room.
