Roy Jones, Jr. to defend title against Manny Siaca
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - WBO NABO Light Heavyweight champion Roy Jones, Jr. will defend his title against Manny Siaca of Puerto Rico at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia on Saturday, December 9.
The 37-year-old Jones (50-4-0, 38 KOs) won the title last July with a decision over Prince Badi Ajamu in Boise, Idaho.
Siaca, who is currently ranked number two by the WBA in the Light Heavyweight division, has compiled a record of 2-1-0 with two KO's since moving up to the Light Heavyweight division in 2005.

Seems like its legit now. But the question is why?
Re: Roy Jones vs Manny Siaca Now Legit
im asking myself the same question man.... why take such a shit fight roy?
make some real money solidify a legacy and get your ass out with a legacy..
the only reason i can think of that roy is even bothering with this fight is cos this kid is probably the only one that didnt argue with roys purse demands...
cos if roy was getting 90 and this cat was getting 10 ... then this kid would still get ten times the money he ever made before!!
lol peace
Re: Roy Jones vs Manny Siaca Now Legit
According to boxrec it's for the IBA belt that Hopkin's vacated.
is it worth anything now?
Nope, but atleast Roy can go out with a title... :-\
Re: Roy Jones vs Manny Siaca Now Legit
If the dude is ranked number 2 its not a bad fight is it? Not with Jermain Taylor fighting Ouma who's never fought at Middleweight in his life and isn't ranked up there.
Re: Roy Jones vs Manny Siaca Now Legit
Roy is doing the same thing Tommy Hearns has done when he got older. Fight a contender and stay in the game but not really take much of a chance. Hearns fought Nate Miller and Uriah Grant and others and tried to do this. Eventually the other guy can win or land a lucky punch though.

Agreed
The only difference is that Taylor is 28 and approcaching his prime and just fought 2 hall of famers...Roy is 37 and has only a few good fights left if any....
But I have no problem with him taking this fight aslong as he is waiting for Woods, Calzaghe or another good fight.....
Re: Roy Jones vs Manny Siaca Now Legit
If Roy doesn't KO Siaca he should retire...his power seems to have left him

Ajamu had never been down or stopped when he fought Roy, even by Rico Hoye who hit him with everything but the kitchen sink and didn't move him.
Roy did the smart thing and went to the body, I think Roy would drop any other fighter with those body shots.
Re: Roy Jones vs Manny Siaca Now Legit
Agreed, he was hurt a few times but never rocked but that was more down to Ajumu... they where hard shots and he took a fair bit on the glove.
RJJ is a natural bown puncher, it's the last thing you loose.
It's his Footwork and reflexes which have slowed.
Re: Roy Jones vs Manny Siaca Now Legit
Can RJJ pull this off? Manny Siaca ko'ed Tim Bowe in 2 rounds...
Makes sense that he would fight a nobody.
Re: Roy Jones vs Manny Siaca Now Legit
