Britsh boxing on the way up???????
Read today in the times that in 2004 (I think it was )there were 7000 active amateur boxers in the uk but today there are over 12000.
Thats great news for the long term of the sport.I went down my local club yesterday and it was full to the rafters with young boxers.
On top of that Britian has 2 real world champs in Hatton and Calzaghe.Amir Khan is 1 of the best youn prospects.
Sky are showing most of the best fights in the world and itv have boxing back on free TV with the bests of British.
;D 3 cheers ,British boxing is on the up again. ;D

Ice man, how the bloody heck can you tag Amir Khan on the end of that list of luminaries? That is ludicrous! Anyhow, I do agree that British boxing is on the way up, and to that list you can add David Haye, soon to be champ Michael Hunter, and oodles of other fighters as well. As for the Times stats, is it 12,000 amateur fighters that we have today, because 1,200 would seem to be a very big drop in the numbers.
