No-tomorrow buildup for Pacquiao

LOS ANGELES, California -- Manny Pacquiao crammed into one short vow the type of game he is going to bring into the ring on Nov. 18 against Erik Morales.

“I’m going to fight like there’s no tomorrow,” Pacquiao was quoted as saying by business associate Jake Joson after training Wednesday at the Wild Card gym in Hollywood.

And the people who have watched him prepare for the third installment of a super featherweight trilogy that has become one of the world’s highly anticipated matches swore to reporters who arrived late Wednesday night that the Filipino ring icon is, indeed, preparing like there’s no tomorrow.

“He’s been training like an animal,” observers noted.

The General Santos City native went through yet another series of tough sparring rounds against two boxers as the countdown to his grudge match against the Mexican superstar ticked down to its final 10 days. The fight will be held at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.

The two fighters have split their first two matches. Morales won the first edition, using his smarts to decision the hard-punching Pacquiao. But the Filipino got back in their second meeting, stopping Morales for the first time in the Mexican’s career in the 10th round.

Pacquiao hit the sack early Wednesday night. He was scheduled to do heavy road work early Thursday morning to build up his lungs for the match against Morales, after which, he was to hit the Wild Card gym again for a training session at noon that will be open to the media.

Team Pacquiao is expected to shuttle to Las Vegas on Sunday.

Also late Wednesday night, the Filipino boxer’s gear for the fight started arriving, including the limited edition pair of shoes manufactured by sporting giant Nike especially for Pacquiao.

The pair -- there are currently only three in existence -- was flown here by songwriter Lito Camo, along with other things that Pacquiao will be wearing for his match.

Pacquiao has been exuding confidence in training so far, even hinting every now and then to friends that the fight is going to end early.

Pac always comes in shape. I don't need no proof of it

Ok. I'm referring to those posters who said Pac is not taking his training seriously.

The reason those comments were made was because of the affair he had, the endorsements, the court appearances, the birth of his child..... All of those things are time consumming I was guilty of saying this. Aren't they!! I'm sure hes training BUT did he train properly... Is he fully focused? All those questions come about when you have sooo much going on in your EVERYDAY life...

I have my money on PAC but I am not counting Morales out nor is he shot.

And you believe them? You should see him train in Wild Card Gym under Freddie Roach. All those distractions were put aside when he stepped up his training in the US. Having a new baby? How could this be a distraction? It was even more of an inspiration to him. Endorsements will come after his eventual victory over Morales. That's the reason why he called off the Nike commercial shoot w/ Kobe Bryant. Court appearances? The paterity case filed against him was dismissed a couple of weeks ago. I'm sure there is no case filed against him in the US that will necessitate his court appearance..... Training properly? Under the watchful eyes of Freddie Roach, Manny is on the right track. Don't you know that he spars 3 times a week for 12 rounds w/ three different opponents. He does road work almost everybody. I don't think Morales can last if he undergoes Manny's spartan training. So watch him on November 18 if I'm wrong.

Don't worry Danny. Pac is training as if there's no tomorrow. You'll get your money's worth by betting on Pac --- the most exciting boxer in the boxing world today. Nike will not get him as endorser if he goofer of fighter.

Well Morales is my Favorite Mexican fighter, I always root for him and wish him the best, He justr seems like a cool guy.... I wanted him to stop that cocky a** foul fest-ed A.B. But anyways, I think Pac-Man will stop him.

how about the PACMAN NIKES! wonder how they gonna look like? haha prolly like the PI flag colors with a yellow pacman face. now only if someone was sitting up close to the ring and was able to take a pic of the Pacman Nikes up close. hmmmmmm

I'm sure pacman is training hard for this... I'm also sure that outside of ex boxers, active boxers and trainers I'll take what the public call 'training hard' with a pinch of salt... ;)

Yes I belive them cause I saw pictures I saw reports it was allover the net and boxing talk sites, he did a handful of interviews during that time.... WHy wouldn't I believe them?
All I'm saying is theres other things on his mind and with that being said one looses focus..... I've seen him, I've seen the pictures, videos & interviews... He looks great, hes improved and doesn't go 'left hand crazy' anymore..... This will be a tough fight for Erik but hes a warrior and I'm sure he'll give it his all. Oh!! I'll be watching.... And Regarless of what happens I'll be Nov. 19 to talk it over....

You are offering up a run of the mill press release as some sort of cast iron proof that Pacquiao is as prepared as he can be. Do you not see the double standard?

Do us all a favor & ease up. Conversate respectfully. It's possible...other members do it every day. Just because everyone isn't giving Pac the gentle tug that you are doesn't mean their wrong.
