Ray Austin NAMED IBF MANDATORY AT HEAVYWEIGHT
>:mad
One man sure to be following tonight's heavyweight title fight very closely is Ohio's Ray Austin. When Wladimir Klitschko and Calvin Brock contest the IBF version of the heavyweight championship tonight, Austin should be taking notes, because the IBF has approved him as the next mandatory challenger. Austin recently battled Sultan Ibragimov to a draw, and the IBF gave the Austin and Ibragimov camps ten days to discuss a rematch. Now, Ibragimov looks to be next up for a WBO title shot against Shannon Briggs, so the ten days came and went with no deal. As a result, Austin has ascended to the mandatory position. If tonight's winner opts to unify the title against another belt holder instead of facing Austin, it could be Ray Austin-Chris Byrd for a vacant IBF title in 2007. -Scott Shaffer

Well I guess that's good for Ray but I think Wladimir is looking toward Valuev after this fight.....or maybe Briggs
Re: Ray Austin NAMED IBF MANDATORY AT HEAVYWEIGHT
Ray Austin + Chris Byrd = The most boring fight of all time.
Re: Ray Austin NAMED IBF MANDATORY AT HEAVYWEIGHT
......I thought that title belonged to John Ruiz-Fres Oquendo
Ray is a good average guy but vs Wlad he'd get fucked up

Ruiz-anybody
Byrd-Williamson
Byrd-Austin (didn't happen yet)
those three would have a good run at the #1 spot

I like Chris Byrd he had some good fights.....John Ruiz is garbage he has never fought a good fight in his life....maybe the Tua one or the RJJ fight but other than those no one wants to watch the guy.
Ray Austin works with what he has and he has heart, he got up twice to draw with Sultan Ibragimov then he hurt Sultan late in the fight too...he's your average fighter. He's this era's Tony Tucker or Carl Williams
